Back plotting software

Can anyone suggest good backploting software...i have a cimco edit V5 for trial only and it works great, but I was wondering if there was something free out their that worked as well. Also i was wondering if mastercam x has a backploter as well.

your seat of MasterCam and yes X will have it also.

If you can backplot in V9 you can backplot in X. Doesn't make sense to digress.

 

Not sure if you can backplot in conjunction with your Cimco editor without a seat of CAM software. I'm sure anything is possible with todays technology though.

I would agree. MC's backplot is fine, no? You can view in 4 viewports, save backplot as geometry [on another level if you prefer - usually its best to], change all kinds of settings, show tool or tool holder also. Plenty of neat stuff.

 

Backplotting drill operations will not show pecks. Not sure if X will. Hope so. Still, no biggie.

...and even though you can't see pecking in backplot, using the verbose mode will help you out a lot.

I have never backploted an exsisting g code program in Mastercam. I am trying to backplot a old program that was "programmed manualy" and I was not aware you could import it into mc and backplot. If this is possible, could someone help me with this.

I believe you have to reverse post it and I'm not sure it works all that well. Do a search for reverse post.HTH!

Sorry...The question wasn't very clear... Maybe running a reverse post will give you what you're looking for. It is supposed to create geometry of your toolpath. Do a search for reverse post processing on the forum. Personally, I have never tried it. There are other members that have had success with it in the past...

Regarding revere posting, there is a file called ReversePost.doc in your chooks directory.

You will get much crappier results with reverse posting than with cimco edit. In terms of g-code backplot, I don't think they get better than cimco.

Actully Peter the Predator one supports more then the Cimco as for backplot of code.

You can actully get it to show stock to.

 

But the Cimco one is nice.

that is Predator backplot.Take note of the title bar in Jay's screenshot.

Predator Vitual CNC does solid gcode verification. Its an entirely different product.

Key word here..'Free'

IMO,anything that is free will not compare to a program like cimco that is reasonably priced.

Just for backplotting, you can use Discriminator from www.cncedit.com

 

It's a trial, but doesn't time out and is only crippled in an unimportant way. I haven't seen an update for a couple of years.

 

An interesting mix of features.

Well been using Predator at my new Job that has the Predator Vitual CNC with solid gcode verification and for the Money is pretty slick. I am very impressed with it easy of use and it capabilites. I take my STL in of my stock or my part and it is does good.

Peter ,it does not true varifacation as it does not detect a collsion if it acures.

But it does support mutli axis in this mode to.

 

Peter, you need to see the new Virtual Ver 6 It is really slick compared to version 5 and under faster and better WAY better graphics with Machine sim.
