Mastercam ART

Recommended Posts

frown.gif Hi guy's, I was wondering if I am the only user of mastercam art in the world?? absolutely nothing on the forum.

I am the first user in Australia ( I am told) and so do not have anyone to discuss issues with, like how to "puff" up a complex vector drawing quickly ( been checking out the Artcam site and man, they have it easy, maybe I should have gone there,) however I did not because I believed that Mastercam being the biggest it would produce a great new product in ART with all the bells and whistles that Artcam has and a lot more??? ( not so sure after completing all of the tutorials,). The engraving one leaves you high and dry and is not very detailed or offer simple ways to do stuff ie: it tells you to alter all the machining parameters to suit their picture, Why?? surely the parameters are defaulted by the choice of tool and sure, you can overide if required??? beats me.

and their are no explantions as to why you should alter the parameters, I can understand putting in the depth of cut, but why "deselect retract" etc!!!!

I would like to place a sample of the drawings I am trying to machine, but there does not seem to be an attachment icon or a place to fill in ( possible dumb old me just not looking).

I actually find this forum a little odd as well, in that we cannot view the reselers forum, why the hell not, surely a heap of queries that would be pertinant to me are already answered there??

and a final gripe on the forum, why not seperate it into, Mill, Turning, Routing, Wire etc to save us from scanning heaps of irrevelant posts.

Thats enough for 1 day good luck to any other Art users that are having the same doubts as I am.

Chris, Welcome to the forum. Sorry you feel left out. Art is a great product but I am afraid it may have suffered from being released while everyone at CNC Software is buried under trying to get Mastercam X ready for release. It is a great product that deserves supporting. As far as the reseller forum, it is just that. A place where resellers discuss sales and marketing stuff. I am a Router OEM Reseller and seldom go in there as there is usually nothing that interests me.

Welcome to the Forum!

As an employee of a mastercam reseller, one of the first tasks I was assigned was to learn ART extensively. You are correct in thinking that not many people here use it. A great deal of people I have shown it to say they would love to have it, but that most job shops and mold shops simply can't justify the expense.

I have used ART a great deal and can probably answer any of your questions. Feel free to e-mail any time.

Here are some of the samples I show our clients.

I've got it, I've done two jobs with it so far both were pretty straightforward, simple geometry and took about 20 min to complete each. I do agree that if were going to pay upgrade fees there should be an upgrade at some point in the cycle. I'm sorry to hear it has a small user base at this point, I thought it would be a huge hit.

I certainly seem to have come to the right place, I have looked at the streaming teacher website but the videos that I have looked at are included in the Art package as standard, I will have another look just to se if I am missing something.

Thanks to Nathan, I will send you the MC9 file by email it is 1.4meg big so I hope it is not a problem.

Please keep the help coming.

many thanks to all.

Thanks Bruce, drop me an email and I will phone you, southside is just a short drive, I presume you use MC daily? if so I would be keen to see how you guy's use it.

Also I got an email direct from Karlo at MC HQ offering me assistance, thanks a lot Karlo.

I might mention, before I purchased MC ART I had questions as to performance etc and it was because of Karlo's direct help and answers that I bought MC Art, instead of Artcam Pro even though it cost me about $1000 more, so thanks Karlo and I am extremely grateful for your personal assistance and thanks to everyone in the forum, I am sure we will get MC ART well sorted in the near future.
