X Draft

Got my new version X today. I'm a little hesitant to install it because I don't want to slow down programming to the shop. Will X and 9 run together? And has anybody heard about a draft verision yet?

X and V9 will run together.

They will run together for sure. I believe if you go with the defaults during install, you will have no problems, and will be able to run either one.

I mean like Mastercam version 9 Draft. Will there be a draft for version X?

Its the $150 stripped down verision that wont code or draw in solids. Kinda like Design but you cant draw solids.

Draft isn't listed in the Products section of MC's website. We have 2 seats of V9 Draft.

I heard that Cnc Software is working on a Mastercam Design LT product that will replace the old Draft. Let's hope that it will be ready by the first Maintenance release.

Draft is being renamed to Design LT and is scheduled to be ready for duplication/production in mid-September. Availability for shipping will follow shortly afterwards.

I contacted my local reseller and they verified it will be called Design LT, it should run about $150 and September seems to be the due date. Thanks for the help guys.

we are looking to purchase it for the guys on the floor. lathe ponts things like that.and for our salesmen alot of our customers send files electronically so they can view them .solid files mostly.iges

spoke with our salesman yesterday,he mentioned there may be a prob, with the name LT sense autocad has there version

I'm pretty sure no toolpaths in Design LT drawing only.

You're thinking of Mastercam demo, which will allow toolpaths, but limited posting output and no ability to save.

 

Design LT will create wireframe only; no surfaces or solids. But it can import a variety of file types, and if those files contain surfaces, they will import. Design LT will also import Solids, but they will read into Mastercam as surfaces.

 

Design LT will be available March 1.

Just to further the confusion....

 

There used to be a product called Design and a product called Draft. Neither could do toolpaths. Design could have solids, but Draft couldn't. Design can be upgraded, Draft can't.

 

In X, Draft is now called Design LT. Design is still called Design.
