FANUC -pronunciation

HEAVY METAL

From the first time that I heard it up until about 5-6 years ago, it was "fa-nook." Then a shop teacher told me that he heard from some "higher ups" that is was "fa-nek." I prefer fa-nook, just because I'm used to it. Kinda like Bullines is still "Bully-ness." biggrin.gif

If you really want to know, give them a call and see how they answer the phone. Or talk to someone at a tool show.

For years, we called it Dap-ra Cutting Tools. At IMTS one year, the rep corrected me. It's really Dape-ra. eek.gif

In university, our robotics lab had a bunch of Fanuc robots and everyone pronounced it "fan-ek". When I joined In-House Solutions, everybody pronounced it "fuh-nook". There was a WAV file floating around from Fanuc's web site with the "fan-ek" pronunciation but I can't find it. Maybe Archive.org.

Guess this is fun too

We make gearheads for them and it is, indeed, Fanuck

Our Japanese engineers say it : Faaaaaaanuck

We say it: F_cking Fanuck

quote:

In the model shop next door they are FA-DAL, the poor xxxx.

That is the funniest thing I have read here in quite awhile; that goes in the one-liners file
