Man - I wish we were clever enough to think of putting up "Game Over" when Mastercam crashes. For all this time, "The instruction at 0x9845824 referenced memory at 0x8736428..." was the best we could come up with.

Programmers are rumored to be generally humorless, though I once did send someone a C-hook containing the sound of breaking glass when ever they ran it.

Question, does Mastercam frequently crash if you DON'T have games running at the same time?

Pete

My next oddity is like this:

I am working in MC and I choose to verify

or backplot the file is green checked and 116k

But it won't do either it just sits there

in its respective screen (Verify or backplot)

In back plot the slider has no color to it.

so I go back and hit regen on the folder.

then MC says"Error generating operation"

The only way is to Close this session of MC

then reopen it, then it will regenerate.

All 12 operations I created yesterday

are just like that right now.

Fine last night, Green but empty this morning.

(Saving and working off my local drive)

Backing up on the Network.

When I do Save it saves in a nano second

Not "Saving nci file" which takes time.

this tells me It ain't saving the good stuff!

This type of activity will sooner or later lead to a crash, so I have to keep multiple copies of the same MC file with diffent names (Fun)

Incase one Blows up again.

This only happens with Big files.

Nothing but MC running on the PC

I'll send it to you.

Thanks

Tony

I’m having the same problem Tony is. All operations created and posted yesterday are dirty today when I reopen the file. Some of them will regenerate others give me the "Error generating operation". It seems some what random, haven’t been able to find a pattern or file size that matches the problem. With some files closing MCX and reopening doesn’t help the OP. I’ve had to delete the OP and recreate a new one. The "Error generating operation" also comes up suddenly while changing or making corrections to the files and again I delete the OP and recreate a new one. I thought it was just me!

Randle:

If the screen actually says "GAME OVER" and you are not, in fact, running a game, I would suspect you are infected with a worm or virus.

Just a thought. You may want to try http:www.antivirus.com (Trend Micro) and run their free scan, just to check.

I am pretty sure that none of the programmers at CNC Software would put code like that into Mastercam.

ROFL @ Pete!!!!!! I like the crash sound though. Any way we can link that to a Mastercam crash??? biggrin.gif

I'm just guessing here but I'm pretty sure that he pasted it in there to poke fun. biggrin.gif LOL Too bad I didn't think of it first, that's some funny shizzle in the hizzle.

Just for giggles I have the Dolby THX sound play when I get mail. biggrin.gif My 2 year old runs in here when he hears it. He must think Toy Story is on or something.

ditto on that. Only way ive found around this is to close the file Im in and re-open it, usually it will come back in OK.

My favorite is when the ops go dirty for no apparent reason, 'specially the ones long as hell to generate.

Ahhh so maybe I did not wait long enough John headscratch.gif I would have expected it to be faster than 9 headscratch.gif That still doesn't explain the gouging problem with leftover though...hrmmm...

I feel confident that it will all work out in the end, just hope I still have hair on meh head....

In all fairness though, X is getting REAL good.

I know I biach alot about it, but I wouldn't if I wern't so passonate about Mastercam.
