Machining to geometry

Hi!

I need your help to draw a surface.

 

My point is i need to draw the machined surface from a simple 5x toolpath (curve5x) to be able to machine it with a ball cutter on a 3x controller(by using 3d-contour toolpath and surface created). For now, I only have 2 chains: one is the spline to machine in curve5x toolpath, the other is a line which is tool direction still in curve5x toolpath.

 

How to model this machined surface precisely? I looked into swept surface but cant't do it properly...

 

I put a file on FTP: MACHINING2GEOMETRY in .MC9 directory.

Do a loft with the 2 curves?

 

Then extend the surf?

The problem is that one of the chains (the line) is not onto the surface, it must be offsetted (not sure of the english term...) 14mm (radius cutter) following the other chain (spline).

Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner dude, I didn't think I was on the right track.

 

All you have to do, is to save as geometry, draw a line across the top and do a net surf.

 

Then do an 14mm offset surf from that surf. I will put the file in the X2 folder if you wish to look at it.

Hey David I forgot you are in 9.

 

You can still do the same thing in 9 you just have to use coons instead of net.

 

I can convert that mcx file to a 9 format if you need it.
