Make a font?

I need to create a special font for engraving. Only need numbers 1 - 0 I can draw the geometry but how do I save it as a font?

unless you have a specific reason to save as a font,I would just save the geometry and merge it in your files. you can then scale and translate it.

I have 128 cavity numbers that must be created on a specific arc, rotated and mirrored into position. It would be much easier if it was a font.

Yes you can !

 

Create an .MCX file for each character, make an LETTERS.dat and put them together in C:McamX2commonfontsMyfont

good call Henk...I played with it in version 9 yesterday and created a folder, each individual letter and saved it in the fonts folder I created..problem for me was the .dat file I never created...seems when I went to test it the size and spacing didnt come out correctly. Is that controlled by the .dat file then?

Yes it is.

 

an other thing for X (for V9 not tested):

Save your files as "char065.MCX" and not as "A.MCX", then you can use Upper and Lower-case

 

char065.MCX is for ascii 0065=A

char097.MCX is fof ascii 0097=a

What is a .dat file and how can I creat one?

The dat file holds the width of the characters. Look at the Leters.dat in C:McamX2-MR2commonfontsBox. You can open it with any text editor, i.e. Cimco Edit

Thanks Steve. I was just looking at that now. So I can copy that file and edit it to what my characters are. Then save it in my folder for my font. And also save the characters under the ascii file name and it should work?

Make sure you make a folder like the example of box. All the stuff for box letter is in that folder. so you would need to create say dog as a folder and you would then copy that letter.dat file into that folder.
