Solidworks pricing

Does anybody know what the price break down is for a seat of Solidworks?

about $3500 for the basic seat.. up to $10K with options. Maintenance is armed robbery..

25% of purchase price annually.

full seat

That is an email from my reseller. Who is wrong here? I do have this in writing, so maybe that would help my cause.

It just started this past October. If you skip a year of maintenance on the basic Solidworks it will add about $500, if memory serves correctly, to pay maintenance the next year.

they charge you to reinstate it.

If you've never been on it, there is no fee

I was told if you skip the the first year the second year would be $500 + Regular Maint. And you would never have to pay more than that. Even if you went 4 yrs without Maint it would never be more than $500 + Reg. Maint.

I bought a basic seat then upgraded to

Office Professional a couple of years later

when I had more money.

You can negotiate a better deal buying all at once though

Toolbox is the only feature in Office Pro I ever use, but you can'y buy just Toolbox, you have to buy the whole suite.

I purchased the basic seat, no maintenance, in December of 2006. In October of 2007 my reseller told me if I wanted on maintenance to do it by the end of October or I would have to pay the 500 + Maintenance.

I paid the maintenance and bought the moldworks suite of products.

We just bought 5 full seats in April 07 and did not get on maintenance (stupid IMHO but not my call).

The new version came out in Aug 07 and we don't get it!! Nice!!

The reality of the situation is that very soon we will be getting files from our customers that we cant open. So finally after all my complaining about this issue I was told the money was put in this years budget to go on maintenance so I talked to our reseller in Dec and was told it would be $500 per seat to get on maintenance.

 

FYI; SolidWorks comes with a two part license.

If you use it at work you are allowed to install a copy at home also.
