Microsoft IntelliPoint 6.2 = Mastercam Death

Been struggling with Mastercam hanging (black screen, white screen), system lockups... basically rendering things completely unusable.

 

Went down the various roads of video drivers, video settings, .NET framework, full reinstall, blah, blah, blah.

 

Once the obvious things were taken out of the equation, I ended up with the software that I had recently installed for a pimp new ergonomic mouse.

 

Uninstalled IntelliPoint 6.2 32-bit for Windows XP, and all problems have gone away.

 

The positive benefits of the ergonomic mouse have been offset by the negative effects of having Mastercam unusable on my system.

 

So all those who have been experiencing the same issues, please check under Control Panel, Add/Remove programs to see if you have IntelliPoint installed.

We tried to install Intellipoint on a 64-bit OS recently with similar results. Thought it was a 64-bit issue though with the program.

 

Just FYI, I have Intellipoint 5.0(Edit: 5.3 on previous CPU) loaded on mine XP Pro (32-bit) and it works fine with everything. Might be something to try if your hand complains too much.

I think it's the Instant Viewer - like alt+tab but with big tiled images, so it's trying to snapshot the window every few seconds.

I've had Intellipoint 6.2 installed on my main system at work, plus on my personal PC and laptop at home, for well over a year and I have very few lockups, crashes or any other issues with running MC. If it were installed on just one of my systems I'd say its a fluke, but I run it on all three systems.

I bought a wireless combo (keyboard/mouse) two weaks ago to get some ergonomy, and it came with MS Intellipoint 6.2

When working with it in Pro|Engineer sketcher, Pro|Engineer shutdown unexpectedly as soon as I type any number in the keyboard when editing a dimension. As Dave, I ended up uninstalling the hole set and rolling back to Dell´s standard keyboard.

Somehow, the mouse did not appeared to affect my work at all.

I guess that the problems has to do with Microsoft drivers...

I have seen the same thing with intellipoint 6.xxx Intellipoint 5.xxx and 4.xxx work just fine.

Ya the 5.0 drivers work great though if you need to configure your mouse.

 

I use those drivers and don't have any problems..

I've tested several wireless logitech mouse/kb combos...(510, MX, DiNovo, DiNovo bluetooth)

In all cases use the logitech CDs for drink coasters. The vanity "crapplications" on them

(itouch, setpoint, intellipoint) have screwed up a lot of systems for me.

FYI.... this is causing crashes in Unigraphics also so don't blame MasterCam.
