Any fans of the Tour de France?

Will Lance Armstrong finally get the respect he deserves from the French after he takes his 4th Consecutive Tour?

The first year he won, the Euros complained that the best racers were not in the race. The second, the euros complained and made excuses (not even good ones), the third, they were just making stuff up even though he's probably the most tested cyclist by far. So what's the deal euros? Can't stomach giving an American props for spanking your best cyclists, not once, not twice, but three times and here comes the 4-peat, Lance cannot be stopped!!!!!!!!

The euros are just sore that an American is spanking their behinds.

If

...it's not a sport..

, I'd encourage you to take the 2,000+ mile ride yourself. Heh, heh, heh. Yeah, and the Iron Man is just a Triathlon. Gimme a break.

The dude tests for everything under the sun and has never to the best of my knowledge been suspended or fined for use of illegal substances or "techniques" to enhance performance. Excuses, excuses, excuses. The dude trains year round, some training in europe, some training here in the states. Can't it be that he's just that much better than everybody else? Like Tiger Woods. There's not a better golfer ANYWHERE, period! It's just the way it is, the only way Lance or Tiger for that metter will get beat is when the others step up, train harder and want it more.

He James I don't care if $ or € wins, cause this is not sport. we even had a dane that won 6 years ago or so, but i don't care, cause they are so dope up. Every major bicycle race has a doping scandale and in even minor ones they finding needles and stuff.

Trust me I just don't care.

Claus,

The only reason that cycling has so many doping scandals is because they are one of the few sports that actually tests for all illegal substances in the system. There are many other sports that turn a blind eye to this sort of thing, when was the last time you heard of a distance runner testing postitive to EPO, Ah that's right no testing for that, or what about a baseballer, you know the ones with arms the same size as my legs. of course its only mothers fine cooking, should I even mention pistol shooting and beta blockers. Ah I could go on all day.

My advice to you Claus is that, he who sells software should stay out of issues that are close to peoples heart like this one.

Since 1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers...

10 miles is 16.09344 kilometers which in turn is 16093.44 meters which equals 1609344 centimeters which finally equals 16093440 millimeters. Metric is kewl.

Is the Tour de France's distance measured in kilometers or miles?

I'm a big fan of the "Tour"

Back in my teens and early twentys I use to race as a catagory 3 USCF rider. A crash I had while on a training ride (without helmet) kind of changed my nerve on going fast down hills. So now I just sit glued to the TV from day one, to the end of the tour, "Lance is the man!" This year his nearest competition (Jan Ullrich) is not racing in the tour do to injury, and Lance is saying that this year he has "gotten even stronger".

Spin Lance, Spin your way to another Tour Win!!!!

I just knew this thread would re-surface. Lance is 'da man! The most tested athlete in the world, comes out squeeky(sp?) clean and #1 ..... ONCE AGAIN. WAY TO GO LANCE!!!!!!

They shoud rename the event "Tour de Lance", 'cuz the French can't even win their own race.

Woooo hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I know. But we Americans don't berate people for winning our events either. Th French on the other hand...... we all know what good sports they are.

My Brother and Sister In-Law just got back from France, the horror stories are something to be amazed by. I gotta tell you, If it wasn't so much of a hastle, I'd change my last name (it's french).

Start handing out little bottles to pee in and see how many riders pass.Look at the police raids on the Giro d'Italia at San Remo when 20 teams...TEAMS got busted for stimulants, anabolic steroids and corticosteroids, as well as used syringes.Even five-time Tour winner Eddy Merckx once said that the Tour was not won on sandwiches and mineral water and the eventual admission of France's top rider Richard Virenque and team masseur Willy Voet confirmed it.He detailed the use of EPO, hormones, amphetamines, corticoids, steroids, testosterone and cocktails including heroin and cocaine.

He described riders' efforts to avoid detection such as drips in hotel rooms to dilute their blood and the use of catheters to introduce clean urine into the bladder.

The whole drug testing scenario in sports is a joke, its not "random" its "selective" testing.

Just read where Raimondas Rumsas, the little known Lithuanian cyclist who placed third. His wife, Edita was caught with enormous amounts of products that included the injectable form of the performance-enhancing substance EPO and testosterone.Shes to appear before a judge in the eastern town of Bonneville on Tuesday.

Makes you wonder what first and second place must be on......hmmm

I'm not much of a cycling fan, maybe that's why I totally forgot about Lance Armstrong until reminded in here. We were just discussing today at my sister's house about the most dominate athletes of today. I argued that Serena Williams gets the nod over Tiger Woods. Everybody agreed. But Lance was never brought up. Dah. Damn, now that I think about it, Lance is the best. Serena second, Tiger third.

In light of his remarkable 4 straight soon to be 5 - no one can beat this dude- Tour de France titles >>> Armstrong gets my vote as the greatest athlete today. Babe Ruth is the greatest all-time, of course, I don't think anyone would argue with that.
