V9 won't run on the x64 bit

Thats a debate, but not worth the risk. When we got our new systems I installed 9 on 64 bit Vista business, it would freeze but ran. Rolled back to XP and it works alright here. 64 bit XP and it runs. I dont use it except for a few old files once and awhile so I can not say how well it works.

I couldn't even get it to start kept getting a "Hasp not found error"

Installed the various 64 bit drivers and all but nothing mattered.

Several people have reported getting it to run on XP64 but many, many more could not. I don't know of anyone who has ever figured our why.

IMO, if you MUST go x64, forget V9 and move on.

If you really need V9 for some silly reason, then you'll probably want to stay with an x86 bit architecture.

X has been out for 4 years and you haven't taken a bit of time to update them? Just a few a week and you could have been done long ago.

In a situation like perhaps moving to x64 system, I would make mehself update them before the change.

but I would have updated to dumped those files anyway, I have done just such in the past.

Had years of info, I found it faster in "most" cases to just redo them, I grabbed a few of the tougher geometrical ones and moved the rest to the recycle bin.

But that's me.

If you have X3 on your old computer, you can use

the "Import Folder" option to mass import all your files.. Just keep your old compter on-line after you get your new one... and covert a couple of folders a day till they're all done..

I keep an old XP x32 box around for emergencies

Its got V9 on it, but I havn't turned it on in a couple of years..

My best advice is to move Mcam V9 to the recycle bin.

In X:

File-->Import Direrctory.

Pick the folder where your mc8 & mc9 files exist.

Then where you want to put them.

McX will convert them for you.

As far as I know there is a C-hook to convert ge3's to mc9.

Ask around, If you can't find it, I'm sure your reseller will E-mail it to you..

Otherwise.. I guess it's one at a time in V9 open..save as V9...repeat.

Then you can import them to X as well.
