Failed error installing X4

I am running a 64 bit computer. Installed X3 on it with no problem. I just download X4 and can't get it to install properly. I am geting (1628: Fail to complete installation) message. Any idea of what is go wrong.

Me to, downloaded it three times. Works fine on any 32 bit. Not on XP 64 bit. Got the same error number.

Try turning off your anti virus

software and then run the install

I have Kaspersky AV on my 64 bit

machines and I can not install

or uninstall if it is running

If you're using Vista x64 make sure you right click, install/run as administrator

BTW, what virus software are you using???

I tried both - no way to get installed. I have Outpost Security Pro installed on that Notebook (M6400).

 

Any other ideas?

Hi guys,

 

At what point in the installation are you getting the error message? There should be text next to the status bar that indicates what Mastercam is trying to do. What is the installation directory you selected for X4? Are you choosing the "replace" option, or side-by-side? Is this Vista or XP-64? If Vista, what version (home, ultimate, business etc.) Thank you in advance.

It doesn´t even come to the "setup dialogue".

 

klickin´ on "mastercamx4-web.exe"

 

1.extracting mastercam X4.msi

2.decompressing mastercam x4.msi

3.extracing ISS Setup.dll

4.decompressing ISS Setup.dll

 

then the error message comes.

 

I tried it also on a fresh 64bit installation, no firewall, no antivirus, all updates.

Hi guys,

 

I found a way to install X4. Right click on "mastercamx4-web.exe" and in the dialogue that pops up uncheck run this program with restricted access. This worked for me.

I am getting the same error as babolino, it says "1628:failed to complete installation" this is still in installshield. I also unchecked the run this program with restricted access..

i am using Vista Pro 32 bit

Installed it on my Vista and Xp 32 and my Xp 64 bit no issues as stated here.

PS and I did not change any settings or turn off any Virus softwares to do the installs.

No chance to get it installed on XP 64bit. Is there any other installation file available (iso or something....).

 

Maybe anybody else has an idea how to get this work on a 64bit XP.

 

This ist the first time we have trouble with installshield files.

 

Plz help I want to get this to work on my PRECISION.

Just a couple thoughts to throw into the mix here.

 

For the guys with 64 bit OS, try installing the 32 bit version of MC, it may be slightly counter-productive, but I don't think it will make that much of a difference in overall performance.

 

Another possibility for the errors that are popping up is that it could be related to specific motherboard chipsets and/or processors. I know that's not as common a problem these days, but still a possibility.

ah, there is NO 64 bit version of MCAM

 

They ARE installing a 32 bit version
