Haas Door Hold Override

If you want to do a little wiring, you could break the wiring to the actual switches on the doors and run them through the user M-code (M54,M61) relays. I would use the M54, M61 because it just flips the relays on or off, M21 probably would not work here because it waits for an M-Fin signal. There is some tech info in the Technical section of the manual and the connection points usually are pretty easy to find in the panel.

We use the user M-codes for tool break detection (we do not have the probe) and we have a bell that we activate at end of cycle. You can hook up all kinds of things really.

I am guessing he wants to unlock the door at the end of the program or at a program stop. Our Mazaks require the operator to press a door unlock button to open the door. Our Mori does too, but Mori was smart enough to add code to do this at the end of the program. I cannot get Mazak to change it and it's very annoying.

You could just unscrew the lock from the door....

Nope, we don't do that. Now, Mori is smart, they have an interlock release function that allows operators to do limited stuff with the door open and it works great.

The interlock is on the machine for a good reason and we keep them on. It's also an OSHA violation to remove them.

This whole thing is over an operator overriding the door hold so he could run with the doors open. It cost him a trip to the doc. We want to turn the interlock on at the start of every NC file. That way if the interlock is overriden for set up, they can,t forget to turn it off. Hope to save the next guy that trip to the Vet.

Thanks
