X4 Trim 2 entities

Hey all: I'm just doing a simple trim 2 entities, and when I go to select the 2 sometimes it works (puts an x where it's trimming to) and other times it throws up a warning that says Warning - zero length arc. And deletes the second arc, or line that you've chosen. So you have to exit out of it, and hit redo, then try again. Am I doing something wrong ?

I noticed this too. I thought maybe it was me having preselected another entite by mistake. When I slowed down it works fine.

If trimming an arc and line, the order of selection makes a difference.

Sometimes selecting the arc first then the line

will generate an error.

Selecting the line first will give good results.

This was reported as a bug and recieved an bug number very late in the beta cycle.

Also, where you pick the entities will have an effect.

You could try the trick of using the default single trim option. Click the first entity and double click the second entity. That performs a 2 entity trim without having to click the 2 entity trim icon.

Thanks for the responses Thad I never knew that and will try it. I just switched back to using 3. I will play with 4 when I have more time, and find out most of the bugs by hanging out here.

X4 Trimming is a big pita! I like the results preview, but only if the trimming will work!

I agree it is frustrating, I tried in the upcoming X4MU1 and the issue is fixed

Also watch the 2D / 3D setting.

 

Sometimes that will mess with your trimming operations!
