Is there a way to turn off rapid moves temporarily

when you show a path?

Here is before I picked cad file and the next is after, both suck worse then the original path...lol

tons of rapids too

I have to give up for now, as I got to get some work done.

Peon, and Ocean do you have any pics of these alleged normal looking rest rough path that you have done? Or a video?... wink.gifsmile.gif

thanks a ton for your tips, I must be missing a few clicks or settings.

IS this to fix the thousands of rapids?

Yeah, but it is still cutting the surfaces like a watering path. It is also missing areas of the waterline like tool lines. so far the original path I started

with was much nicer but cutting on the surfaces rather than rest roughing.

I will keep on it as I have a few more molds coming up that should require rest roughing

Thanks a bunch.

The best CAM package is the one that suits the needs of the shop the majority of the time. I am totally satisfied with MC's 2D machining capabilities and ease of use. Been working with the standard 3d paths for over a year now and they're getting easier to use and control. I don't like the roughing HSTs and stay away from them for now.

The HSM Performance pack from Cimco (MC add-on), offers up some nice roughing paths, they just look more logical all around. Their 3D paths are much smoother than MC's but a little bit harder to control (starting location). Tool path calculation time flies. Their latest version now supports check surfaces. Awesome verify and backplot as well. Free trial. Wait till you get a Monster project, then give it a try. (Does this sound like an AD?)

From what I've read (no real experience here), Surfcam's Truemill leads the pack for chip thinning type tool paths. I personally don't like the interface of the entire package, it feels awkward to me, but that may be just lack of experience with the software itself.

I should NOT, I REPEAT NOT, have to buy more(3rd party software) to

do rest roughing etc. I encounter bigger issues Mc

rest roughing and rest waterline paths as the parts get more complex in X4. Some time I can narrow it down to getting rid of splines in containment boundary's then it goes to crap again on the next one no matter how clean the boundary!! banghead.gif

Getting a little frustrated trying to make molds here. frown.gif

Rickster,

Did you ever get it to work correctly

No, and most times I cant get a 1/8 and 1/16 ball to show a cut what so ever. frown.gif

I really hope CNC gets these paths working.

PLease.

Murlin, It works perfect in X3 and does not work

in X4.... Just like all the other rest material paths

Its gotta be a bug other wise it would also work

in X4 like it does in X3..

I've proved it! See link above.

Now we Wait...

But hopefully there are enough things the DO work in the first release of X4 that would make installing it worth it...

Sounds like there is...as long as you keep x3.. bonk.gif
