Murraymold, peon and everyone else with this

issue.

chipman just suggested in one of the error crash threads to turn off multi threading and see

if that helps.

WELL IT DID!!

So far any ways, 7 crashes in a row and after

turning off the multi threading, the paths just worked, for no apparent reason.

Try it

Maybe CNC will look into it now.

Thanks chipman!! My mold is now cutting!!!!! cheers.gif

I gave up on multithreading and turned it off.

I kept having brain farts and editing geometry

that was part of a working toolpath tongue.gif

That crashed or locked me up every time.. biggrin.gif

I really can't blame that on the software, but the

system should make geometry that is part of a crunching toolpath non-editable

gcode ...u suk at tryin to be funny bonk.gifbiggrin.gif

Tony best run I have had since the Mu1 is a day

and a half. that was monday and part of tuesday.

This new Mu1 Temp folder issue is the stupidest

thing I have ever seen in 12 yrs of programming.

Its Dealt with poorly. Not one Person from CNC even had the heart to chime in and say

'sorry for your troubles we are looking into it"

I lost 25 hrs in 6 days because of it.

quote:

Check out the updated pages for Cimco products

and HSM Works.. those folks put out updates and

patches almost weekly..

I reported a bug in Cimco Edit one time.. and they

had a fix on thier webpage 3 hours later..

Its first class outfit.

I wish Mastercam would at least do even 'one' a

week

Ok,

after 4 or so crashes and restarts and re boots,

I did the exact same parameter change, turn 'ON'

multithreading as a last resort, and low an behold

the path processed!

i have gone back and forth trying to get it to crash

but it won't???

I guess after each crash try turning the multithread

on or off and see if that is the answer.

New, pre- crash workaround.(TEMP Folder Error)

As this multithreading idea failed and only works

for a few paths before it acts up, try this.

I turned off the 'New tool refinement' in the control panel applet, and like most things I have tried, the crashing has ceased, for now.

I only have a couple hours on it though.

These temporary fixes usually re-occur soon.

i have brand new complicated mold to program

tomorrow and I will keep you all posted on my

MC CRASH progress.

I really hope to get through this job with out a

crash I cant miss another deadline be cause of this PITA Bug.

Rant on:

My Boss told me Thursday that we're going to switch to Esprit in June (when maint. is due) if they (MC) dont get their shiit together. We already have Esprit Solidwire Platinum that I use for the 4 ax paths. We still have MC wire for the guys out in the shop to do 2d paths because I'm covered up working around bugs and crashes.

In Esprit wire I can toolpath a complex non-planar solid in 7-10 minutes and a planar solid in less than 5(I'm not trying to sound like JB, but I'm not exagerating) The SolidEdge feature tree makes it a breeze.

I'm only one customer out of 150,000 and it's not gonna hurt them if I leave, but if more people start jumping off the bandwagon they will be hurtin.

Rant off:

I have had several crashes with X4 MU1 but I haven't sent them in because I'm just messing around learning to use surfacing. I believe I have similar problems with large files as mine tend to be in the 600M size. I hope this is a problem that gets worked out because I just talked my new employer into getting X4 with the maintenance agreement. I seriously doubt he would invest in a second system.

BTW, murraymold, your slinky comment made me LOL :>)

Reko, I'm in the same situation. I just started at this facility this past March and talked them into Mastercam. My initial plans were to add several, level 1 seats to the floor so the men on the floor can program their 2d geometry and drilling rather than manually typing the code into their machines from a print. I wanna go paperless like I had at my previous employer. Well guess what? I can't honestly make that suggestion anymore with the crap I've been dealt with since the release of X4. Especially since we have available seats of Pro/e Manufacture. (very cumbersome in my opinion). It would be hard enough to train a few men on a new CAM system with STABLE CAM software, but just imagine if I had to train the men now and still try to keep up with my own job responsibilities when the software crashes on a consistent basis. I'm just asking for a stable software package. This now becomes a career decision with my current employer if I recommend Mastercam to the shop floor. Please fix the crap!

I had this same crash you are talking about in X2 (with the temp folder issue) as you have stated in some of your other threads Rickster. It would only happen on one of my computers in fact I was trying to preform the bench mark. Then it started happenning all the time on large files... I had to use another box.
