.stp and .x_t , Open with missing features lately

Recommended Posts

I'm importing .stp files from Pro/e with absolutely no problems. But, if I import parasolids from Pro/e, missing features are common. The opposite happens with UG. UG loves exporting parasolids, but I've had grief with .stp files.

Pete/Peon, nothing changed to my knowledge.

X4 MU3 - solids - mold plus, Win XP., Not creating just opening.

These are PRO E, step and X_T, files.

I just researched it and Most of my last customers

that have been sending stp were created in pro E.

If I open them in Solid Works 2007, save as an

.SLDPRT, then open it in MC it reads in perfect.

Ironically he just sent me an new .igs and .stp

file to try and the stp had missing features and

the Igs file came in perfect.

Thats all I can tell ya.

Thanks

Rick

I just opened another file that was created in solid

works that had a pile of missing features.

I opened it in solid works saved as a .sldprt file

and it open up perfect??

Weird.

Is there some kind of data translator re-install needed here? Its like MC has decided to quit doing

what it used to be able to do, all of a sudden.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Try this in pro/e while you have your part open:

file - properties - change (to the far right of accuracy)

Make sure the box is set to absolute and not relative. I am by no means a pro/e expert, but changing that setting has saved me a few times when I have experienced problems exporting files and pulling trodes. Expert pro/e users, please chime in on this.

I had just got a STP file from Pro-e and have the part was missing. had them send me another same thing. decided to open it Solidworks and it came in and i saved as a SLDPRT file and brought into MC

I usually do not have issues with STP files.

IGS (I GUESS) that's a hole other story.

I have yet to have a problem with the infamous Iguess file.

I have been told that there is a

'known' issue in the 3rd party updated libraries

updated in X4 MU2 that fixed some issues and cause

translate issues like mine.

Contacting Mastercam is the ultimately best way to find out real culprit behind the issues.

I presume it will be addressed in X5

Mine was weird..

The file was a customer's X_T export

from ProE

X4MU3 dropped a surface.

The file opened OK in SW2010 and NX4

but if I saved it back out of SW

or NX it still came into X4 bad

no matter what file type I used.

I did get a good file into X4 though.

I saved it out of SW as a step

imported the step into Catia

and saved back out as step.

Mastercam opened the Catia step correctly.
