build mold in USA

one of the tools we just built in our shop is going to china to be put in production our customer wants us to engrave "made in china" on the cavity!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least the mold is still made in America. The last company I worked for wouldn't even entertain the thought of buying an American made mold. If chinese quality molds were not good enough they went to Taiwan or Korea for the mold.

Pretty sure the "Made in China" is supposed to reflec to the consumer that the end product was made there, not the mold itself. Would you prefer if the mold said "Made in America" and the end consumer thought thats where there product came from?

Its an american product being molded in vachina.I would much rather the mold be built in the usa molded in the usa assembled in the usa sold in the usa and canada

If it was not a law, no US company would ever label a product as "Made in China"

Yeah, we had some training on it here. Can't remember some of the exact details but there are laws that say a product/part has to be labeled with country of origin and it it's an assembly, there is a percentage of it that has to be made here and assembled here before it can say "Made in USA". It's not just a vachina thing though, it's EU, Messico, Tiawan, etc., etc., Something to do with WTO and Global Trade Compliance. Gotta keep the regulators employed, don'tcha know.
