Source for Lollipop end mills ???

Hi all

 

I need a source for standard dia (3/8 1/2 ect) lollipop end mills. I have to mill a half round concave slot in a mold I am working on.

 

Normaly I would use a std ball end mill but I have to come in at a 10 to 15 degree angle from horizontal to clear some other geometry.

try triple-t.com they make end mills like that mostly for eyeglass machining of the plastic lenes. nice web site too!!!

The only place Ive managed to get some are YG1

or prototyp. But weve only needed metric.

Yep I did a search and found some posts but they were mostly insert endmills $$$$$$

 

I need just a ground carbide lollipop, need to make only 4- 20" long cuts in Aluminum. with a CNC router.

Why carbide?

 

For a job like that, I would think your local tool grinder would be able to take some cobalt ball mills and relieve the shank for you no sweat; wouldn't they?

Carbide because of RPM 10,000 min 18,000 max and no flood coolant. lastly carbide will handle sand from the casting better

as far as getting one ground... WE do not work with any tool grinding shops (I buy all my tools new from MSC or Onsrud cutter). Can anyone suggest a vendor in the southwestern NY area (south of buffalo)

Called them up this morning and got their

800 # so if you want you can call free.

Destiny Tools makes some great Tools.

Endmills,Dovetails and Specials all work great.

Example: 1" 2 Flt. Carbide 2.25 LOC

I run at 15000 RPM 600 IPM .25 DOC .50 ADC

get about 300 minutes per cutter.
