FIRST CRASH WITH X5 :(

I'd get my machine def/post upgraded for X5 before going into huge files..

No idea why you crashed.. X5 has been very stable for me.. I've been using it

exclusively since May.. In August I had a bunch of crashes in advanced 5X toolpaths, but we

narrowed it down to a Windows DLL problem and the issue is fixed..

one word of advise to people installing X5

DO NOT DROP YOUR X(whatever) CONFIG FILE INTO YOUR X5 INSTALL

BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DO

I didn't use my config file from x4, I started fresh with this install, I updated all my machine defs/post before even opening any files. Even made a test file and posted code to verify everything was cool. The strange thing is that I just saved the file a minute earlier, and after the crash that was the file that had no toolpath. So Hardmill, SAVE SAVE SAVE did not even help me here :p

Yeah, you definitely want to get rid of old configs. They can cause issues.

It seems to be common knowledge among the beta testers that using the old config file is bad news. Did CNC put anything to this effect in the installation documentation? I'm sure a lot of frustration arises from small communication gaps such as this and it makes the software look unreliable when in fact it might be quite stable. I followed John Paris's advice and started from scratch with a new config file and things appear to be running smoothly. It was also a nice refresher course on all the config options available :-)
