I built a 16 cavity plastic injection mold back in '79 for a nasil spray tip. The part that goes in your nose.

The core pins in the inserts were ground out of a 3" headed pin that tapered off a radius into a .015" Dia pin.

The the oposing shut-off holes were in small inserts bout .1 in dia and 1/2" long. So I drilled the holes the blanks insertes and stuck a guage pin in them and indicated them in with a .0001 indicator, then groud the outside of the inserts consentric to the holes.

I've done wire extrusion tooling that had a .010 hole in it. I drilled it with a HSS drill on and old Clausing manual lathe. Then we bored a taper down to the .010 hole using hand made tapered carbide boring bars. All this in Monel 400.
