X6 MU2

That's one system I don't have a STEP CAD Model from.

I'd send it to QC. The thing I find odd is that it opens up in X5 fine. I have not had any translator issues since like X6 Beta 1 and that was with native CATIA files and that was fixed in B2 or B3 along with the 3D Connexion stuff. IIRC.

Sorry I could not be of help.

I saved two files on http://depositfiles.com/files/mumb23aku password: mastercam

One is probably from solidworks 2011, second from Siemens NX 8

I have third from Catia, but it is 300 MB...

X6 MU1 and X5 MU1 can open both files without crash.

I use 3D-Tool and their Native CAD converter to convert files from step to step. Converted step i opened without any problem in X6 MU2.

Just tested your 2 files, both open for me, no problems

try closing down X6, delete your config file or at least cut it out of there, then start X6 again, it will make a fresh config.

Try to open them again

smrk,

"...I tried to rename file and remove special characters (in filename and header of step) and it doesn't work neither. ..."

You haven't said if you importing surfaces or solids, and I'd also like to know the Operating System you're running (and if it's 32- or 64-bit).

Please send that file into [email protected] if you have not yet done so. Feel free to cc: me ([email protected]) since qc will be forwarding it to me anyway.

I was able to open 01_1 with no issues.

ZNAÈKOVACÍ GRIF.step crashed Mastercam. I opened up the file, changed the name int he header to "STEP TEST.step" and had no issues.

The special characters in the header seem to be the issue.

I tried to rename file and remove special characters (in filename and header of step) and it doesn't work neither. One of the files i uploaded was "01_1" so no special characters.

Smrk,

You'll need to open up the STEP file in a text editor at the top you'll see the following;

ISO-10303-21;

HEADER;

FILE_DESCRIPTION (( 'STEP AP214' ),

'1' );

FILE_NAME ('ZNAÈKOVACÍ GRIF.STEP',

'2012-07-10T06:10:02',

( '' ),

( '' ),

'SwSTEP 2.0',

'SolidWorks 2011',

'' );

FILE_SCHEMA (( 'AUTOMOTIVE_DESIGN' ));

ENDSEC;

Rename "ZNAÈKOVACÍ GRIF" to Sample or test, or somethign like that and it will open with no issues.

HTH

Haha, Pete you hit the nail on head! Many Thanks! One of sub folders has special characters. Even files from QC i saved on desktop and path has one special character in complete path. Everything is working now.

Question is, why everything other works? I have special character in my account name so Mastercam config and other files has it in path and working without any problem.

X6 MU2

I have following problem.

1-st

I created drilling operation. Again to edit operation, choose other geometry (point, arc) from toolpath type page, press button "apply" - Mastercam crashed.

2-nd

Again to edit operation, change type of operation (from drill to cirle mill or helix bore), press button "apply" - Mastercam crashed.

I have checked up it on three computer with different operation systems and have received identical result: Mastercam crashed. There is no difference between win7 or win XP or Vista, between 64 and 32 bit operation system.

Anybody have the similar problems?

smrk,

It looks like its a problem with the libraries we license to read or write STEP data...I know it sounds easy for me to blame someone else, but that's what I found in the debugger.

It's been logged here as #109854, and I've already made the corrections in the X7 code stream.

We also found the same problem with saving STEP files (#109547) and that, too, has been corrected for X7.
