New Swarf

Morning all,

 

See the attached file, the first swarf is looking great, I told it to make a .003" rad in the corners and it is perfect, nice smooth motion.

 

So I mirrored my surfaces, copied the toolpath, then re-selected the new geo. The new path (#2) gets all funky in the corners, not the same as the original.

 

What am I missing.

I haven't downloaded your file, but the first thing to check is that all your surface normals

are pointing outwards, towards the centerline of the tool

That is the first thing I checked, they are pointing into the center of the pocket, and the floor normal is pointing up.

Keith, Send that to QC. Something weird going on with the mirror. I tried mirroring the tool path and got identical results. Maybe a tolerance issue that controls the mirror.

K2csq7 they way u mirror u surfaces made the swarf confused, directions wise, you went from climb to conventional if you changed to conventional it will work fine, i would try to mirror the tool path instead,

Mirroring the path (transform) resulted in conventional cutting. That is why I mirrored the geo instead.

Sorry for the hijack...While we're here...where is the depth (tip control) in the new swarf? I want to go past the bottom of the surface...

I found a workaround.

 

Xform rotate instead of mirror.....
