Optirest

Optirest is not working for me if I base if off of a stock model. It gives me a dirty operation and will not regenerate it.   It will work if I base it off a roughing tool.  I tried it on 2 different parts with the same results.

when I try to attach a file is says I am  not aloud to attach this type of file.  what does that mean??

Zip it first, then attach it.

Are you sure that your stock model is correct?  If you accidentally create it in the wrong plane the orientation will be off...I've done that before.

yes i have done that also.  it is correct.   IN the past it would still regenerate the tool path but obviously if its in the stock model is wrong it will not give a rest tool path.  now in x8 it will not try to regenerate.  almost like it doesn't recognize it.

Are you sure you attached the right file?

I didn't even have to regen the opti path........

Thats because  the opti path is based off of a roughing tool.  go to the trim to stock page and change it to one other operation and select the stock model.

You are using WCS 1 in the stock model

and WCS 2 in the opti path. 

 

I got something out of it for you. 

 

IMO, ALWAYS use TOP for you stock plane in your stock model. 

 

I also had to delete your steep/shallow settings and containment boundary. You can redo those if you need them.

normally I also always use top.  Im not sure why did it different this time.  I went back to my original file and still had issues so when   I tried to open your file back up but it doesnt know what software to use and mastercam is not on the list. How do I open it?

change the Z2G extension to ZIP

click zip to go util

click file, open

browse to my z2g

once open goto command, extract. 

 

Keep track of the location it extracts to...

strange thing is I can take my original file and make the same changes and it still will not regenerate it.   Hopefully the next part is better.

I made quite a few changes.....  just to get something to go. 

 

You need to start that over from scratch if you want to make sense out of it.....

 

Just keep your stock and stock models relative to TOP and you'll be good.

i think i figured out another problem though.  If i have  the adjustments to remaining stock checked to ingnore small cusps and it will not regenerate. if i use stock as computed it works fine.

you told the core roughing path to leave .02

You told the opti path to leave .01

on top of that you told it to ignore small cusps with an adjustment distance of .01

 

.01+.01=.02 (the stock the first path left)
