Change NC name?

How would I go about changing the NC name of a program file after the fact?

I have a program written, the NC file name is SN124. Now I use this program as a template for other similar versions of the part.

I would like to rename the template NC name to SNxxx, so that when I post it, SNxxx populates as the default file name, and I can change the xxx field as required.

I do realize that I can simply change the numbers from '124' to the desired numbers, but I don't want to risk overwriting a CNC post should I happen to forget.

Right click in the operations manager, and select edit selected operations, change NC file name.

Unfortunately, I believe all newly created toolpaths will resort back to the old NC file name and you'll have to keep on changing those too...assuming there are more toolpaths.

I had that very same question, pre-internet days

I have found this to work for me...in Settings --> configuration --> toolpath manager --> NC File...I select Toolpath group name.

 

 

Then in the Operations Manager I rename the toolpath group to the NC file name I want and then when you create a toolpath it will have the NC file name you want. Then all other toolpaths created in that toolpath group will also have that same NC file name.

X+ has a nice feature that changes NC file name and program # at the same time, if you like them to be the same number like I do.

I remember the same thing, probably about 12 years ago.
