x9 Verify Graphics

Morning all,

Last week IT brought over a new rig and my old one disappeared and I've had graphics issues ever since. IT has been in touch with CNC systems and they have given us some good advice but nothing has helped, so I thought I'd ask here. Computer specs are :

Intel i7 6700 @ 3.4 GHz

16 gig ram

Windows 7 64 bit

Nvidia Quadro K2200

Solid works runs Ok but when rotating a part it is slightly clunky but MasterCAM Verify is very UGLY. See screen shots for example. This is a sphere end mill and it looks like a pencil and stock is very faceted. Verify time is double what it was on old computer:(

The other programmer has the same system (purchased at same time) and it's working good.

IT has been working on this for almost a week now and hasn't been successful. CNC Tech had us do some settings with the drivers and disable the log-me-in driver and we have even replaced the video card with another brand new card with same results.

Anybody come across this before?

TIA

Karl

what is your curve tolerance set at

I had an install that was set to  .02 (metric???)

and Verify was UGLY

I changed it to .001 and it got much better

Oddly enough, it won't let me change it to anything bigger than .008 now

I would try closing X9

rename this file

"C:\Users\ ***   your username here   ***              \Documents\my mcamx9\MastercamSimulatorDefaults.xml"

Launch X9 then launch Verify.. it will write a new default file and may fix your problem

GCode,

I renamed this file and still no different so I moved the file to the desktop. MasterCAM did not recreate the file (at least not in the user directory)  and still the endmill has 10 facets instead of being round.......

I also found a file with same name in the common directory so I removed it also with still no luck.

After removing all files with this name I tried with no luck and file did NOT get created (at least a search of the c: drive did not find any files with this name).

I don't know if this will help but I've had to change the settings when you are in verify.  Open verify, go to file, options, general, miscellaneous, than the check box for 5 axis simulation engine, than check box the always use 5-axis engine.  My interpolation step is only set to .04 and it looks decent.  Let me know if this is what you're trying to fix.

Sorry, was just shooting in the dark.  I had the same blocky graphics on mine and it drove me crazy until I found that.  And I know sometimes if you install the wrong update or driver for the nvidia cards it can cause issues.  I own a '15 KTM 300XC.  Are you a fellow rider also?

Murlin, Those settings fixed the issue...YEAH Thanks very much. I do not know how they get set so low but now verify is back to normal.

ABS Tech, Yes we are now fully owned by Pankl, Up until this year they were only a majority owner. And yes they are  (or were not really sure ) part owners of KTM also.

Thanks for all the replys. Problem solved,  Muchas Gracias,

Filed for future reference. This place is a gold mine of info.

  • 2 months later...

Murlin, I finally moved up to X9. I loved X6 and am not impressed with HOW SLOW X9 is about everything....always thinking and re-reading the entire file whenever I make tiny changes (like selecting a different toolplane for an operation...sigh) but I do like the new main graphics window much better....

Anyway, yes, I'm having issues with the new verify looking COMPLETELY crappy and totally worthless as a visual tool. I wanted to make sure about what you told Karl...am I supposed to change ALL 3 of those settings to .0005?

Thanks, Scott

Scott, getting verify setup to work well in X9 is a challenge.

It all depends on what kind of video card you have and how fast your puter is and how big your part is.

Doing parts that are detailed and 40 ft long is way different than a 6 x 6 block...

So for that card I would get the Nvidia controls set for Catia, set the shading tolerance to .001.

If your using a stock model, set the tool path tolerance to about .003....also on the STL tolerance in back plot set those to .003.  Then turn off those enhancement bars on the bot right of the verify window.

If you need a better machined model to look at turn on the bars and wait for it or use accurate zoom.

I use Mastercam's verify as a visual tool to aid you in making sure you are using the right tool paths and are not taking too much as far as the grafix are concerned.

It is also a great tool to use for collision checking in the report if you do not have a machine sim.

I personally use a combination of verify/compare and the Machine Sim to check my programs and things have to really be wrong for Vericut to find something it doesn't like.

Alot of times I will skip the verify module completely when I have a machine sim.

got another X9 question when using X6 setting a dynamic origin the part used to be transparent and you could select points thru the part like if you had created lines on the bottom and wanted to set the dynamic WCS to the center bottom. In X9 however the part stays solid and you cannot select points on the bottom thru the part like you used to be able to is there a setting somewhere to make this like it used to be or is it just something they have done away with? Hope I explained this so I can get an answer.

Yes that changed somewhere and you cannot pick through the solid anymore.
