  1. Chris, I suggest that you use the services of a Head Hunting Firm, they know where the good jobs are and I get at least 3-4 prospects per quarter asking if I am happy where I am or if I am looking to move. The best attitude to have is to know your job, do it well, and "Choose" where you work, by having options, you are empowered and can manage your own destiny. As you have found, reputations both good and bad travel out from around you like waves, so use it to your advantage.
  2. Wow , just checked out the website and I guess what happened. Near Ottawa, likely a crap load of subcontract for Nortel. Nortel's business tanks, but the bills keep comin' in for the premium equipment. 10 Matsuura CNC HMC - Model 450H11/15K 5 Matsuura CNC VMC - Model RA - 2G/15K 2 Matsuura CNC VMC - Model MC - 800VG11/20K 2 Matsuura CNC VMC - Model RA - 3G11 2 Matsuura CNC VMC - Model RA – 4G/15K 1 Matsuura CNC VMC - Model MC - 660VG/20K 1 Matsuura CNC VMC - Model MC - 660 VG/15K 1 SuperMax-2H Manual Mill 2 Lilian 3VH - 3H Manual Mills 2 Lilian 5VH – 5H Manual Mills Acurite 1 Nakamura CNC Turning Center - Model SC250MS 1 Tos Engine Lathe 20” x 80” - Model SN50C 1 Mitutoyo CMM - Model BRT 707 1 Mantis Magnification System (8X) 1 Hyd-Mech Swivelling Bandsaw - #S-20A 1 Tannewitz 40” Vertical Bandsaw 1 Baxter 20” Vertical Bandsaw 1 Universal Tool Grinder 1 50 Ton Calibrated Press 4 Drill Presses 1 Multi-Stage Ultrasonic Aqueous Cleaning System All I can say is let me know when the auction is, I'll be the first vulture on site... 3. A GOOD M/E, Programmer, Machinist will never be out of work. They may be between jobs, but they will never be out of work! Keep the faith, don't leave the trade, even with the proliferation of Tim Horton franchise opertunities.
  4. The forum helps those who help themselves... Change parameter in Job Setup and then On Screen/Configure, click save as...
  5. Please help, I can not find where to change this default in V9.0 I looked in screen/configure/*.* and could not find anywhere. I am almost to the point of searching for the .cfg and looking inside for the switch. Please post the elegant solution.
  6. This query is for a research portion for a robust design project. The intentions are design for manufacturablity and also to design something to capture the market and leave competitors lagging by 5-10 years. The Hardening is misleasding, the cryo operation is more of a super quench that will modify the grain structure only and not add any hardness to the component. The company has invested in all sorts of buzz word technology and I thank all those who contribute to our success...
  7. Glenn, Thanks for the clarification, I was almost impressed...
  8. Thad, I have copied another file and appended depthcuts to the filename. Check out the parts, it will move across the floor of the part and then pop up to the first depthcut. I wouldn't want to run this program...
  9. This just in... Iowa programmer is fired after found on desk having inappropriate relations with his mouse pad. Details at 11:00
  10. Kevin, Jay is indicating a change on the NCI file itself. This is a root level function that other systems lack and is quite effective. My question is, will this edit remain effective even after a regen? I know the Pro/E tool paths that I use will remain associative, even after adding in a feed change to the CL data file (so long as it is modified within the dialogue box and not on a remote editor).
  11. Also - What type of a tool changer do you have that would permit the tool to be changed without leaving the pocket of the part? Mine would have driven the tool thru the part and ruined my day! It may function as you would like if the same tool was used for rough and finish, but then where is the remachine advantage? Still cloudy on the intent of the question. Post Edit: Further investigation, Set the stock boundaries and look at the verify, Do you want the remachine to recognize that there are radii at the intersection between the floor and walls as well? 12. It's a 1-5/16 Radius cutter (1.312) Re-Read the post, thanks to Ernie for setting me straight. I hope this company has corrective lens coverage here... Thanks
  13. Thad, Check out REMACHINE_MFGENG.MC9 on the FTP site and see if I understand your original intention. Please clarify the specifications first. 1) Disable depth cuts 2) enable finish in the tool path and disable rough 3) select keep tool down in the finish parameters dialogue box. Peter - I tried the settings in the software and saw some cyan lines between corners. Feed, not rapid, and they are at depth. Look at it and see! Will the all powerful SweaterMan software do what you ask? (this is for James' benefit, I really want to understand your question!) Regards, [ 09-23-2002, 03:14 PM: Message edited by: MfgEng ]
  14. Will "Healing the Geometry" create any additional wonky surfaces that the original doesn't have?? I can not modify the design model, it is forbidden! But thank you for the response, I will give it a try and do an analysis.
  15. kellared surface(1" bull nose)- First time experiencing this term, please define...
  16. Threads are cosmetic features and contain no real geometry in Pro/E. The features that I have trouble with is a helical cut along a shaft. Think of an etruder screw and you will see what I mean. Where the sweep comes out of the end of the shaft, when there are radii on the profile, the system gets a little messed up and will fail. This is the problem that I have and have sent files to my local service center.
  17. rsbeadle You describe a terrible situation and I suggest that you contact Sandvik Coromant directly (800)-SANDVIK and find out the name of their Regional Sales Manager. You have a case to become a direct customer (Savings and Support) if their local distribution is a bunch of crooks. Also, I hate to say but DoAll isn't in the tool and die business and you should be able to get what you need from them.
  18. I also have the "Solids" problem that is being reported here. prismatic models come out nice but a helical cut seems to leave holes...
  19. Extend the contour you are trying to cut by more than a cutter raius from the front of the part. Use Absolute clearance between passes at a ridiculous height. Remember that the cord distance across the narrow parts of the "Rectangle" are smaller than the long edges and so an incremental clearance height isn't sufficient. Think a clearance cylinder at the maximum dimensions. Also watch the cutterpasses in backplot and then review Posted code to see if the cutter does indeed clear and that perhaps the verify routine is itself wonky for this type of mill turn application. Remember this isn't vericut...
  20. Super bee is the company that I used for indexable corner rounds. 1.300 is a goofy size though, perhaps if form isn't important, you could use a 1.25 and make two passes off a littel in x in the first move and then of in z for the second to "Fit" within the band - Ernie would be proud of us...
  21. Peter, I suggest the use of an Iscar or Kennametal Plunger for this tool path. You used the right application - Cavity. An inserted drill is only a single flute effective tool so avoid these. Regards,
  22. I ran the file and found some funky gouging on the face of the part as well. Extend the contour lines to a radius plus a good clearance amount in front of the part. This should then clear it. Also add some additional clearance height in the parameters page 0.3 incremental is just not enough. Give her about 1.0" plus on this and you should have some good success. 23. Ernie - Please email me directly. I need information on the services that you offer ie- compairison with model to machined part.
