  1. Peter, Kathy used a magic word "Assembly" in her post and the Pro/E converter isn't that strong in this area. I have trouble with machined features that are assembled to a casting to produce the finish part. MC doesn't recognize the assembled material removal features. Message Edit... As a work around, we asked our designers to make the parts unique as a .prt and we machine to this model. Assembling removal features to the model is not valid design intent. The solution as proposed by our designers was to export an IGES and then send into Mastercam, but we finially determined that the original model Must and Will be unique and correct. Kathy, Many sympathies... [ 09-19-2002, 05:01 PM: Message edited by: MfgEng ]
  2. True position call outs by definition have to be referenced to datums. We are taking this thread outside of the scope of the original subject matter. Are you an inspector by trade/Job Description?
  3. Ernie RFS - (Regardless of Feature Size) No Fitting Permitted
  4. Ernie, Nice example, but the second frame has a true position on the arc center. Nice to use the bonus tolerance until the designer figures out how to use GDT properly. Now we have used up all the standard excuses that we tried to jam scrap at the customer with from the my old Job Shop Days. Oh Well - Remember that QC staff are not permitted to think. There job is to measure and report deviation only, not to manipulate figures and solve problems.
  5. Valen-Who??? Call the Sandvik Rep and let ego and his/her company hold the tool as a proof of performance purchase. Let him come in and run the tool, you won't be disappointed. RA390-025025L-17L - cylindrical shank 8.0" OAL Call Sandvik directly and not the local distributor. [ 09-19-2002, 08:38 AM: Message edited by: MfgEng ]
  6. Tools are assigned and managed under a separate tool page that has pocket number etc. These are non-standard features for the Fanuc Snobs in the world and are standard on many other machines.
  7. James, I have completed your thought You can lead a horse to water............. ...But you can't make him Think!
  8. Kathy, I report the same problem. Hope someone has the solution... It is driving me crazy!
  9. I have seen this once before. I was running a Hacked copy of MC before sending the "CRACK" to my local dealer. I suggest that you check your SIM and also re-install if the SIM is valid as there is potential for a corrupted .DLL HTH
  10. Chris, Your data is right on with other information I have uncovered so far. My feeling is that Cryo-applications are the modern day equivalent to alchemy and I don't know what benefits that the enquiry to my office hopes to achieve. I can understand that the effect of temperature is not limited to the addition of heat and that the removal of heat will have effect on the grainstructure and solubility of the carbides etc. in the base material. Walt Disney may have the right answer...
  11. Hope some one else has already beaten this dead horse. Who amoung us has been asked to validate this type of a "Heat Treatemnt Process"? Any information appreciated.
  12. I was there the Saturday the 7th for the day. Too many appointments and not enough time to see the sights. Ameri Seiki will always come thru - Old Time Sales Techniques... Flew thru the MC booth but didn't see any names I recognized so watched an Esprit Demo. Glad I have MC.
  13. Correction to earlier post Those who can, Do Those who can't, Teach Those who can only talk about it, Sell Those who can't do anything, Manage
  14. Check out a double acting vice from Parlec of Chick. The name of the game is - Parts to the Spindle... The more parts you can fit on the table, the more you can amortize cycle time, tool change time, pallet change time, part change over - etc. Watch out though as scrap rates can soar if the process isn't stable (or if the operator changes the wrong offset.)
  15. James - I am reminded of the saying - One size fits most... The Sandvik CD is limited in the tools that you need profiles for. The tool database inside of Mastercam is fairly comprehensive for ISO/ANSI holders and inserts. The DXF profiles that I want are for the R300 Bull Nose tools and have had no luck. That makes me the poor fat shirtless xxxx that is on the fringe of the distribution curve...
  16. LYLY - I have looked at the file and determined what you need can be accomplished inside of Mastercam using MPSUBREP and Transform Tool Path. I have also noticed in my career that a man will learn to fish if he is hungry enough... Try to make it work, the process of trial and error is good for the soul. Besides - I'm swamped today.
  17. James - Wow - last post sounds like the beenie is screwed on too tight. Training would fix this problem, you are right!
  18. LYLY - Post a MC9 file with the gcode that you are looking for. You are in the right place for tech support - but it sounds like James is looking to make a few bucks. Best part of that is they are yankee saw bucks and not the loonies they pay me in...
  19. I love the smell of coolant steam in the morning...
  20. A word of caution, Herd all the Bison and run them off the cliff. Stick to Kitagawa.
  21. Fantastic Choice - In fact - Every Mori I have worked on had a Kitagawa. If you like German stuff, SMW is fine.
  22. Use the software as a tool to get what you need. Whether your fixture is flat or has multiple faces - Just invision it as Flat and let the machine do its magic. I guess that So.Cal. is a little behind common place Canadian State of the Art! [ 09-11-2002, 05:38 PM: Message edited by: MfgEng ]
  23. Place a "B" value in the offset and away you go. I have done this on a toombstone with multiple stations. Why won't this work for you? Assign the stations a G54.1 and let the machine do the rest - IE use the offset to do the table rotation. [ 09-11-2002, 05:29 PM: Message edited by: MfgEng ]
  24. web page View this posting and then you will get what you are looking for. MPSUBREP post found on this webpage.
  25. Allan, Nice logo, import a jpg and add some spice...
