  1. I always try to cut 3-5 more threads past the L1+L2 length, as if emulating what a tap would cut. Then engagement can be adjusted with just a little cutter comp and/or offset change.
  2. Aircraft is all we do, MC is all we use. Lots of complex 4 & 5 axis stuff. The magic of using the special features of a particular control is in the post, not a problem with MC's capability.
  3. Add your two boundries, then on "Finish scallop parameters" tab in the parameters check "Order cuts by minimum distance". See if that give the motion you want.

I'm with dp933s! I suppose that when I get my station all customized and mapped and I'm used to the new software I will be as fast as I was before, meanwhile it sucks. What irritates me the most is this whole hieroglyphics idea - that someone thinks I'm to stupid to read and have to have some f-ing little picture in order to recognize something.
  5. I was making good progress on MCX, not liking it yet but getting used to it. Boss has yanked the plug. From now on only "proven versions and upgrades" are to be used. Haven't even had the chance to post and run anything. Oh well. Y'all have fun, maybe I'll be back someday.
  6. Are the Settings (Configuration, Customize, Key Mapping, and Toolbar States) saved as part of the config file? Or how would I take my MCX settings with me to another workstation? Conversely, how would I reset my workstation to its factory default to accomodate someone who is not used to my way of wanting things?
  7. "Go to Settings, Key mapping, select AutoCursor from Category list, and you can create shortcut keys to whatever selection modes you want. Go to Settings, Customize, and you can add them to the right-click menu." Does this mean I can map keys everywhere I used to use key board choices? I used to use my left hand a LOT but now it does almost nothing as my right hand moves the curser over here to click then over there to click and then back and drag down a menu and click then over there to pick . . . And if you move you mouse to soon after you click, you didn't get it clicked. Too slow!
  8. Cutter comp 'can' be done on five axis cuts if your control supports it. Many (older) controls do not allow cutter compensation on multi-axis cuts, some controls may let you do it but won't do it correctly.
  9. The self window select thing was happening to me the first couple of days. I have found that I have to slow down for a lot of things to let the MasterCam keep up with the mouse and clicks, even worse than in MC9.
  10. Haven't had any crashes yet with larger files, but redraw and rotate are dog slow. Biggest file I've tried so far has been 21mb in MC9 and is 26mb in MCX. Running: dual 3.0GHz Xeon 2GB ram nVidea Quadro NVS 280 64MB
  11. To get a toolpath with arcs try turning on the filter in the contour parameters with a tolerance of about .0015 and "create arcs in XY" checked. This seems to work best if the linearization toleance is fairly tight, ~.0001.
  12. Also can go to Settings...Configuration...Toolpaths and unmark "Repaint toolpath" to keep it that way. (Alt-F8 is keys to edit System Configuration)
