  1. Good morning all. Does anybody know of a post that was developed for a emco lathe with a seimens 840d controller with c & y axis. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
  2. The duramill material and tool libraries have a lot of the initial tweeking done for you as far as what type of tool you are using. Check them out I would like to hear what other people have to say.

  4. The only time I have found the insert key to be a problem is when I use either the back space or delete keys. So the answer is simple, never delete or backspace. sorry...
  5. What are you picking in the plane section of creating your slice curve? I do this quite often and haven't had any problems referencing a WCS. But I generally do things a couple of ways and I'm sure my ways are the correct way, why else would I do it that way. HA! Anyway, post a little more info on exactly whay your trying to do and I'm sure we'll figure something out.
  6. Moldplus has some functionality for doing this without solids also.
  7. NO COOLANT??? Do whatever you have to do to get at least a mist coolant system. It will save you many headaches. [ 11-13-2002, 04:03 PM: Message edited by: Roger ]
  8. Hello, in V8 I had heard that you were technically licensed to run two installs of the Cimco editor. One for the station running Mastercam and one for a DNC computer. I don't know if this was true but I do know that people did this. In V9 if you do not have the sim on the pc Cimco Edit will not run. Could someone from Cimco shed some light on this?
  9. If you want to send toolpaths that they can import to V6 you should be able to go into nc utilities, post processor, run old. This should create an nci file that can be backplotted in V6. It's been a while so I am not sure about the specifics. Let us know what works.
  10. I think I tried that before when calling out hole diameters to show the tap size and it prompts you that the value must be between 0 and some number. AAH, you type faster than I Scott [ 11-12-2002, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: Roger ]
  11. Well, a little training with the mass' sounds like a good idea. having a seperate icon calling up seperate config files which call up seperate operation default libraries... Not so straight forward either. If you instruct them once they have created all their toolpaths to right click and edit common parameters and set them to what they desire I think that is probably as straight forward as you will get. good luck
  12. quote: Roger, you're probably thinking of Autodim which was an automatic ordinate dimensioning c-hook. It is now in create-drafting-dimension-ordinate-window. I remember that one, which worked well, but this one also had wireframe of shcs and such in it also. Somebody has to know what I am thinking of I think it was avail in V7, or maybe V8.
  13. If you set your feeds and speeds in the tool it will remember each time you call the tool, even if it is based on a material. How about editing common parameters??? That should work for turning your coolant on and off.
  14. I guess I can't read very well. I beleive there was a chook that would allow him to do just as he asked but I not sure what the name was for sure or if it is still avail. Easy dim??? Maybe???
  15. When your creating your dimensions click the edit text to yes and create your dimensions and then click on the dimension and you can paste the text you want in after the dimension. It isn't comepletly automated but should work.
  16. Backplotting only gives you time based on linear moves at a given feedrate. If you want anything more than that you'll have to use a setup sheet.
  17. I have designed a few simple molds in SolidWorks, some with 3D parting lines and simple cams. Worked well for what I did. I played with IMOLD and once the mold base was created it was hard to make changes to plate layout. This was several years ago and I'm sure they have made major improvements. I have seen people mutch better than I with SolidWorks do some very complex parting surfaces and mold layout. SolidWorks also comes with some of the major brand name mold bases already layed out.
  18. were these elipses created in Mastercam? Are the elipses splines or small line segments? The linerization tolerance only affects the portion of the chain that is a spline. Definately use the filter regardless if they are splines or line segments. To go any deeper it would be nice to know if they are already splines or short line segments.
  19. elad, do you have the start finish pass at closest entity check box checked? This can give you less than desireable results on occasion, such as starting in a corner. something to check
  20. Elad, I beleive mastercam moves the start position of the finish pass automatically to the midpoint of the first entity of the chain that defines either the pocket or and islands within the pocket. If you want to move your start point of your finish pass move your start point on your chain. Hope this helps
  21. I think the lock that tala was talking about was locking up his computer as opposed to locking the toolpath preventing any regens. I agree with peter the corner rounding radius is only on internal sharp corners of 135 degrees or less. And the radius you define is the radius of the code, if you have a .05 radius it would matter what size tool you have the radius output in the sharp corner would be .05. Hope this helps, create a simple toolpath and backplot it while saving as geometry and then you can analyze exactly what it is doing.
  22. OU812, when you go into your job setup hit the reset button and then chain the wireframe geometry that defines you stock. You need to have a closed chain that defines your geometry. If this still doesn't work post it on the ftp site. Thanks,
  23. There should be no problem chaining your stock boundary unless the geometry crosses the center axis. If it crosses the center axis it will not work and I beleive it tells you what the problem is.
  24. Concrete, I like that one. It's right up there with machining bubble gum.
