  1. There is a link on the dell website now that has recommended set up for a new pc purchase. dell-mastercam linky
  2. Thanks Tony, I appreciate any help I can get. I did have to modify the post for X just to get the machine to read the code without alarming out. I'm anxious to check out your post to see the difference.
  3. I have a customer with this control who is doing wirefeame revolved toolpaths for small mold work. When he runs program he get's (circle adjusted beyond maximum adjustment). Program runs all the way thru but he seems to be getting some rough looking areas on the part. Just curious if anyone else has an idea of what exactly this alarm means.
  4. Is the guy using that computer ever using a removable storage device that plugs into usb port if so that can also cause this same error. While the computer is connected to one, it will sometimes kick out the mastercam usb hasp.
  5. If you make changes to machine def or control def after opening a machine you will need to open the properties button in toolpath manager window, go to file and replace the machine def to pull in the changes you just made. Or once you have made changes and close out of mastercam the next time you open it your changes should be loaded automatically now.
  6. Previous post was assuming you have used the rotary axis button on toolpath parameters page and set it to(axis substitution, simulate y axis and set rotary diameter) to set the part up for true simultaneous rotary work.
  7. Make sure simulate axis substitution is checked in backplot options also.
  8. PROBLEM Can't open Solidworks file with MCAM X, they don't show up in window. CAUSE Windows is not reading entire file ext. SOLUTION Open a folder, open tools, open folder options, pick view, go down to Hide extensiions for known file types and make sure it is not checked.
  9. Just to be sure, you did have the updated Pro E translator installed for MCAM X, correct.
  10. you can get the Rast2vec option that will convert .bmp images to geometry using the shodowing of the image. But Mastercam art is better for that type of application. Got to the art section of the mastercanm website for more info on art. It allows you to create 3d surfaces and toolpaths from a jpeg. It is slick, and very easy to learn. Just contact the reseller in your area for more in depth info.
  11. Did you do a side by side install? If so you may need to tranfer the .acc translator file from Mr1 to Mr2 folder. It may ask you to type in the code again.
  12. I would like to have a shortcut button called convert splines to lines/arcs. This feature is still here but you wouldn't know it unless someone told you how to get to it(Trim break/break many). It doesn't say anything about splines.
  13. If it works when you go back to MR1 backup those post, control def, and machine def files. Then load Mr2 again as a side by side, and migrate your settings. See if everything is o.k. If it still doesn't work, delete the post, control def, and machine def from MR2 and load the ones from MR1 and see if it works then. If this doesn't work try here again. Maybe someone else will have an idea by then. If not you may need to at least call your reseller and discuss what's happening.
  14. Delete them from MCAMX not your backup.
  15. Before running update post be sure to delete post, control def, and machine def after you back them up.
  16. If you still have a copy of the old version 9 post have you tried saving your current post, machinedef, and control def in a back up folder. Then just do update post from the settings, run user application, and select the old post that was working. Try this and see if it gives you a post that works before we do a complete uninstall.
  17. You may want to do a system restore to before your MR2 installation and see if you are still having same problem With MR1. If not un-install MR2, then delete the MR2 folder in c drive, and re-installMR2 as a side-by-side installation and migrate settings from MR1 to MR2 and see if that works.
  18. Is this a new drawing? Analyze the curve/arc, sounds like the curves may be splines instead of arcs. If so convert splines to arcs or redraw with arcs. Let us know if this isn't the problem.
  19. Just curious, did the Thermwood Tech. tell you about the worn gears or did he actually show someone at the shop what he found. The 5 axis Thermwoods I dealt with were all belt drive on the B axis. We had a lot of trouble with the belts stretching over time causing it to be very inaccurate, especially when doing any heavy machining, it finally slipped a notch on the belt. We replaced the belt after we realized what was happening and things did drastically improve.
  20. Ignore last post. I just can't type today. It did work that way also.
  21. make sure you have endpoint selected in the drop down menu 2 icons to the right of the fast point icon. i just tried it with this set to midpoint and it did'nt work.
  22. Hopefully you'll be running smooth now. Good to hear.
