Trying to find the filter button in the surface finish parallel operations. I'm getting the short line variation on some XZ radii on the end of a part. I've always just turned on filtering, but suddenly can't find it. By the way, my new glasses should be here this week!!!
I did the stand alone install because of space issues. Before starting I saved my old MR1 config file. MR2 doesn't show my toolbars and right click menu like I had them. Can I replace the config. with the old one?
Sounds kind of slow. I'm running a 1" Bruebaker at 5000RPM and 75IPM, 1" deep, but don't have enough setup rigidity to run it faster in that one. With an Iscar carbide 3/4 rgr, we routinely run 6100rpm, 128ipm up to 3/4 deep. On these types of cutters, I've been told time and again,"when in doubt, feed it faster"
Thanks guys. What I'm thinking of trying is to have about 20 standard tools in the machine specific library, and call up individual tools as needed from the MC provided library without saving them in the machine specific library. Hope that makes sense. The machine has a 32 tool chain, so I would have 12 extras for various drills, odd end mills, ect. for that particular job. We run a lot of short run jobs, and I'm trying to keep the more common tools set up, while leaving room for part specific tools.
OK guys(and gals), I'm kind of confused here, nothing new. I'm going to build a tool library for a specific machine, and keep standardized tools and their tool # in it. I've always used the provided libraries that come with MC, just add tools as needed, but now we want to put certain tools in the chain and leave them there. I've searched here and in the help section, but what I'm finding talks about importing tools from one library to another, not building from scratch. I know many of you have specific libraries you use with specific machines, so was wondering how you went about it. Got to be some tricks to make it easy here. MCX, Mill level 3, solids.
Thanks, Steve
I can't remember the last time I had MCX crash. Certainly less problems than I had with V9 and a couple of the surface paths. Got to be some small system incompatibility.

Just reminding myself for the millionth time since last Fri. (M62) should of been M62. (Index table) D.A.
We are just beginning a search for something similar. Looking at Mori, Toyoda, and Daewoo. We have had very good luck so far with the 3 Daewoo DVC400's, but the oldest one is only a year and a half old. Tool sales man the other day said the DVC400 were stouter than the other Daewoo models he'd demo'ed tools on and was impressed with them. Looking at DHP500, but so far only in brocheres.
Been doing a lot of 7045 al lately. Not bad.
Years ago in another life, I used to turn a lot of 4140, up to 350 Brinel if I remember right. Worked well if you kept enough inserts. This was back in the KC-75 carbide grade days.
I run the 1.25" version of maydays tool at 10,000rpm, 300ipm, .25 deep, full slot on a Daewoo DVC-400. Haven't had any problems yet! Well I'll take that back, the plexiglass window is taking a beating!
Material is .75x2.5x3.7. The part looks something like a butt hinge, with the flange .087 thick, and the raised solid bead about 5/8 high, and on a radius.
We've got a couple of small parts, look similar to butt hinges, that are supposed to heat treat to 205 KSI(43-48 RC). Made out of 13-8 Stainless, the flange is .087 thick. We're being told we should machine to net, then HT. I don't have any experience in this area and figure someone here would know more about it. What's our chances of it holding shape?
Bought a bunch of Hanita Varimills to get started, the tool man says 150sfm and .0035ipt, wet. There will be a 1/4 ball nose doing some 3-d on the rolled bead, guessing we can speed that up a bit.
Anyone else see this problem? Occasionally, when exiting or minimizing X, I only find a blank desktop, no icons. My granddaughters picture is there as a background, but no icons. Hittting the "show desktop" icon in the lower tray doesn't do anything either. Win. 2000 pro, QuadroFX500, with the MR1 download to X. It did this a few times when X first came out, then quit it after one of the patches, now with MR1, it did it this afternoon. If I reboot, everythings normal again.
It was my understanding that we were grandfathered in, but then saw the "only until the next release" post and became "a bit" concerned. It's becoming more and more difficult to talk them into maint. each year.
"only until the next release"
Is this true? We have had level 3 for a couple of years without the need for multi-axis. Now we are thinking about a horiz. mill and would need the 4th axis.
Just saw this. I had a similar problem last week. Had about 18-20 ops programed and got out to work on something else. When I came back, the ops were messed up. Most were reversed, but a couple were in random order. Still not convinced it wasn't something I did, but with others getting similar effects, it's starting to look like there could be a problem.
Sounds like there is more than one solid, like maybe some of the dia.'s are a seperate piece. click screen statistics to see how many solids it shows. Probably just need to do a boolean add operation to make it a single solid.
