  1. Got a problem here. MX3, Mu1, mill. We have two seats, and they want me to set the machine def and post files on the server so we're both using the same files. I've managed to get one of the computers looking at the server for those two files, but can't get it to look for the tool librarys there. It keeps going back to the local hard drive no matter how many times I redirect in config settings. Anyone have any idea what I may be doing wrong and can give me the steps to correct this?
  2. Inhouse is working on a Makino post for me that is doing the same thing. Hoping they can get the manual entry after the header. Just about got this one dialed in, will add tool life and spindle load coding after we get this 1st set of hot parts out.
  3. Not getting a lazer or probe at this time, maybe in the future. I don't write the POs or the checks, just use what comes in the door.
  4. Thanks guys. The machine is supposed to be ready to go on Monday. Got to get the tombstones cut and then on to the parts if we get them programmed in time. Totally snowed under!!
  5. Just got a new A61 Makino, wondering about how most of you guys change your SGI look ahead between the standard and fine cut for critical dims. Do you just use a manual entry operation, or have something like a misc. value/integer setup for it? We have ordered a post from our dealer who is going to Inhouse for it. I've had no experience with Makino, lot's to learn.
  6. Good luck with the UG. I've been told that we will be adding UG here. Upper management wants the various shops under their control to use the same software. I'm working to keep MC for the more familiar stuff and then use UG for the upper end. Hoping this old dog can still learn new tricks.
  7. We've got some standard tools in the machines with several pots left open for odd balls. We don't have them listed my manufacturers #, but generally have them called out as say a 1/2" x 1.25 flat E/M. We run 99 % Alum. so we mostly stock the same cutters for all jobs with others when called for.
  8. The Boeing strike slowed shipping, but we've been doing a LOT of short lead/short quantity stuff for some of the Spirit design/build projects. Added over 350 new 3 and 4 axis jobs so far this year and most of that was with only 1 programmer. Now I have an apprentice so the load is lessening somewhat.
  9. it happens to me if I just open the view manager to see what's active, don't have to change a thing.
  10. similar to many of the ones above. save to new file, draw a vertical line from the center of the material or fixture, select all entities that need changed( usually most of them for my programs), mirror, go back and reverse chains and cutter comp where needed. some parts need 3-d operation directions changed as well.
  11. Been changing to center of rotation. Just got this true 4th machine, the old one was index only.
  12. Yep, that's it. I don't really understand the Japanglish in the book, so figured I'd ask here.
  13. We've just had Dynamic offsets added to our Horiz. control. Fanuc controller. Does anyone have a simplified explanation of how to use it. We don't normally do multiples of the same parts per tombstone, progressions of the operations on the different sides.
  14. Hey Doug, is Steve still training for Randy there in Broken Arrow? Spent some time there back around 2000 while he explained quite a few work arounds for Esprit. At that time a lot of the program was "greyed out" and Steve wasn't any happier about it than my boss was.
  15. We've got the DHP-5000 and just set a DHP-5100 on the floor last week. The 1st one has run a little over a year without much trouble, and seems to be a pretty decent machine. We've got 4 DVC-400s, vertical split table style pallet machines. 3 have been good, the last one is a lemon. Currently fighting with the dealer to replace it. Mostly tool changer stuff, putting the tools back in the wrong place, access door not closing and alarming out the machine, and other tools related stuff.
  16. I routinely program for 300 spm on drills in alum., but limit speeds to 6000rpm on the smaller stuff. For end mills I run 1000-1200 spm with carbide and not much slower for HSS in the smaller sizes. Inserted 90 deg. end mills run way faster,(Iscar Heli-Alu 1.25" 2fl. runs 10k, and 230ipm, full slot, .25 deep in our CAT40 spindles) we run mostly 7045 and 7050.
  17. Yep, I need a rest as well, been fighting burnout. Maybe now I can catch up.
  18. Hope that HP5100 turns out ok, we've got one being installed right now. Ours is short the probe and about 60 tools, but other than that a decent match.
  19. Hey gcode, what are you setting the global preset at, seems like I remember somebody said to use solidworks. There was something else said to cause trouble, seems like it was the anti-aliasing switch or something like it. Didn't get the blue screen yesterday afternoon, just locked up. He had two sessions running, switching back and forth, using one as a ref.
  20. Our IT guy already called and had a new hard drive sent. Installed it Fri afternoon. We downloaded a new driver this morning after your 1st post, I'm not sure which one he downloaded but it may be the performance version. He said it had the same # as the original, but maybe coming from nvidia it will be more complete. Anyway we'll see how long it lasts this time.
  21. Thanks gcode, we're on single monitors, but that shouldn't be that much different. When you select the driver, are you using the graphics, performance or one of the partnered selections?
  22. Just wondering which of the new Quadro drivers people have tested with MC. We just got a new setup for a 2nd programmer with the same computer ordered as what I'm using(DellT5400, Quad core Xeon, XP Pro). Both have FX1700 video on a Dell T3400, but his has a newer driver and is going blue screen at an alarming rate. When you go to download a new driver there are quite a few to choose from, anyone had good luck with one of them?
  23. We're having good luck with the Iscar unit as well.

    Boeing DPD

Sorry Collin, wasn't directed at you or anyone here. I just get tired of all the salesmen trying to pitch their product as the "Boeing Standard" when we all know that isn't the case.
