  1. Yep, I seem to get verify more often than the pick list that is supposed to come up. Cancel out and all my operations that were picked are now "unpicked"
  2. I just define a new wcs or toolplane on the backside wherever home will be on that side and program normally from there. When you get ready to verify, go to the 1st wcs to run verify. You should get all tools working from their respective directions.
  3. Yea, I get it too when opening V9 files in X2. Open the chain box and it lists "unknown point", re-pick the points is the only way I've been able to get out of it.
  4. Hey, verify makes the day go better! I tell everyone my job is to just sit around and watch cartoons.
  5. Basic stuff, no comparison
  6. Theepres, we run that same Iscar cutter on a couple of older machines at 6000rpm, 128ipm, with .25depth up to full slot. Also cat 40, but 20hp, and 7500 rpm max. giv your new cutter a tryout!
  7. Been using the Iscar Heli-alu 1.25" 2 fl. with the 16mm inserts and their Click-Fit holder system. Because of a lack of spindle rpm, we only run it at 10k rpm, 228ipm, .25 depth, up to full slot width. This one reaches to 3.5" deep and has become our standard hogging tool. 40 taper, 30 horse, Vertical pallet machines.
  8. In my post, under #Rotary output. Index - set for index only instead of full rotary ctable -set for 1 degree, asks for degrees rotation. hope that helps.
  9. We're running same as Scott B except we swap 2-3 on the machine end. No Mazaks here, but I think that is the same I used at the last place I worked that had Mazaks.
  10. Thaks guys. I have gotten in the habit lately of setting filter and tol. settings pretty small. Need to rethink that part.
  11. Should of said regenerate toolpath on the surfacing. The video seems to work ok, I'd like to have a better card but don't see that coming. While it's in the process of crunching toolpath, Windows Task Manager says I'm only using 50% cpu capacity, so I figured there must be something else slowing things down.
  12. I'm getting into some more involved surfacing and have a couple new parts that take over an hour to regenerate. Thinking about upgrading the system. Currently running MCX2 with solids,P4, 2.8Ghz, 1GB ram, 2000 Pro, QuadroFX500. Paging size is set to 3077MB. I looked for the allocation page that we used to mess with in V9, but couldn't find it. I'm not up on all the specifics, could anyone recomend a change that would speed this system up, or would I be better off replacing it with something more advanced.
  13. Heading out till Tuesday. Cascade is working on the post. Thanks to him and all who offered ideas.
  14. Guess I'll just change the macro. Tried the above changes without luck. Thanks guys.
  15. Hope not everyone is into the eggnog too much yet. I've got a post problem on a Horiz. mill, modified MPFan. The machine has a toolchange macro that takes over whenever it sees a t#m6 callout. Problem is it leaves the control in incremental mode. When I have a table index, it usually comes after a toolchange and the post is just putting out the B#. I need it to put a G90 in front of the B#. I realise we can edit the macro to go back to absolute, but would like to have the post put it in for a safety factor. Below is how the post reads now. pindex #Index output if index & rot_on_x, [ pbld, n$, `sindx_mc, indx_out, e$ !cabs, !cinc ] I've tried putting a "G90", after the n$, but got a G90 after every G2-G3 in the part as well. Is this where I should be looking, or am I way off base here? Have a great weekend folks!
  16. #1. Hand it to the inspector. #2 Tell him to fire up the CMM and get off his A**
  17. We have a 4020 and a 3016, both going on 8-10 years old. We run mostly alum. extrusion on them, light cuts for the most part. They have seen more repair and more downtime than any other machine in the shop. We won't be buying more.
  18. Used to watch everything prove out, but since I'm up to 11 mills now to program short run parts for, I seldom see it unless somethings wrong. +planning, +tooling, +part time insp., +++. I don't have the time I used to.
  19. Most of the applicants we've had lately wouldn't get hired at Pizza Hut! Gettin to be a real hassle
  20. Not sure of the model # of the unit we ordered. Has 3 stations up to 1.25" with cooling units and is mobile. Listed for $14,5 here.
  21. Just ordered the Iscar shrink unit and holders, some cat40, some er32 shrink holders. Sorry DavidB but got it way cheaper than that. We'll see how it works.
  22. +1 Lars. We just moved 10 machines to the new shop. Pumped coolant into barrels, then pumped it back in through mesh filters for use here. Used a vacuum type barrel pump, worked great.
  23. Select all operations, edit common param., change prog. name. Basically the old change NCI from V9. The operations from MR1 have a different NCI name than your newer MR2 operations. Rereading your post, I see that you were doing this. It's what fixed my problem of the dual post though.
  24. OK, got the glasses cleaned better and found it under total tolerance settings. Sorry
