    Boeing DPD

Every software salesman that comes through claims his product it the "New Boeing standard". I've heard it from at least 3 different cam salesman. On our DPD, not MBD, we have gotten by with using the FAI as proof of translation. Things are going to have to change as we get nearer MBD.
  2. 10 VMCs 1 HMC Job shop with short run parts, countinuous turnover of parts. Program, fixture design, plan ect. 1 programmer/mfg. eng. Me
  3. 6:08 Dell T5400 Quad core Xeon Proc E5420 2.50 GHz 2GB,DDR2 ECC SDRAM 667 Mhz 2x1 GB Quadro FX1700 512MB 80GB SATA 3.0Gb/c, 7200 rpm XP Pro SP2 22" Ultrasharp Dell Flat Panel Now that's more like it!!!!
  4. Most of the ones I've done were on the vertical 1st, no indexes. This way you can just post them out to the horiz. or in our case, with the same tool library up to #30, we can run the vert. program with no changes.
  5. Nope, just the newest version on this desktop. I have both this and V9,Sp1? on my laptop, but haven't done any programming on it in a couple of months. Don't remember having this problem on it. Forgot to add, running XP on all three machines.
  6. This one is a clean install on a new machine. Everything downloaded from the website.
  7. it usually happens to me just after converting the file and I start cleaning it up . I usually move construction geo. to some of the higher # levels as well as excess surfaces. Makes it a little easier to work on a file if I know where to look for things.
  8. Z2G and phone # on its way, thanks.
  9. did a quick search, but nothing showed up. Running X2,MR2,SP1, 11.2.4.6 Several times over the last two weeks I've transfered entities from one layer to another and gotten the error "invalid argument has been encountered". The level manager is then locked up, but everything else works. The only way I've found to get around it is to shut down and reopen MC. If I remember right it's usually when I move a bunch of surfaces. Working with aircraft files brought in as igs. It's happened on two different computers, Dell 490, dual core xeon, and my new Dell T5400, quad core xeon. Both have FX Quadro video A minor irratant is that MC takes forever to open on the new machine, but is really fast once open. Settings moved to "Best Performance" to cut down on eye candy. Is anyone else seeing the level lock up problem?
  10. Thanks Lars, that got it.
  11. There was a discussion of this a year or so ago. I've been searching for it but the search engine keeps giving me about anything but what I'm looking for. Anybody know where to look or have any thoughts ? This is for Fanuc controls, no Makinos as of yet .
  12. In our case, getting the parts hasn't been an issue. Getting someone who knew what to do with them has been. To make it clear, these are local "techs", not Daewoo people.
  13. We have the DHP-5000 Horizontal twin pallet with a Fanuc control. It's been a very good machine for us so far, only had it for about a year. We've got 6 other Daewoo verticals including 4 DVC-400s. I think that pipeline is about closed due to lots of problems from the local dealer support team. Had lots of small problems carrying on for months with the verticals that don't seem to get fixed. The main fix-it guy locally even told us it was because we were pushing them too hard. We're 99% aluminum and nowhere near up to the speeds and feeds I've seen from some of the guys here or in the brochures. Will be looking at Mori and Makino after this.
  14. "The only downfall is if you crash a spindle you are going to replace it every time. Without Vericut it would be risky." Or even let it chirp a couple of times from what I've heard from one of our customers. They've put about 8 spindles in theirs. Makino stood the 1st two, the rest have been on them, about 80K a pop. Amazing machine though.

    Horiz. ?

I've got a part programed for a horiz. mill center. Program was set up with 1st op front, backside of part on back of tombstone with a drill op indexing 90 on the 1st fixture. verify and a dry run works fine. Decision has been made to put the 2nd fixture on a 2nd pallet and run it on the 0 degree face. I'm trying to find a quick and easy way to reprogram. Part is somewhat symetrical and many of the contour toolpaths use the same contours front and back. I can get by for the time being by editing the code to take out the B180 and shuttle the pallets. Guess I'll have to copy the part with the 2nd fixture attached, rotate it 180, redefine the backside planes, and reassign the contour toolpaths. Anybody got a better idea? Oh, there are 7 different versions of this part, all needing the change.
  16. The Doosan 4020LS and Mecatec 6030 have been here a couple of months now. Decent machines, especially the 4020LS, but Dealer problems(likes to sell, but not support) will probably move us into Mori or Makino next time. Thanks guys
  17. we've used 3/16 dia. "sponge rope" for a few fixtures. Don't have any parts that are 100% held by vacuum, but use it all the time for stabilizing thin floor parts. Alum. aircraft parts.
  18. #2 for surfaces, #14 for wireframe, #12 for special contours for toolpath. But then I've got #58 for background.

    LHS/RHC E/M?

Just checked their online catalog and the ones they have listed are called out for wood use. Anyone tried wood router bits in thin aluminum, any luck?
  20. Looking for some left hand spiral/right hand cut end mills. Downspiral cutters the guys in the shop call them. 3/8 regular length 2 fl. will be used in thin aluminum. I used to see them all the time in the catalogs, but nobody seems to carry them anymore. Got a couple of thin extrusions that want to lift too much with regular cutters. Anybody know where to find some?
  21. Yea, but these are dry storky. The way things have been going I might try some of your kind of glasses!
  22. Sorry, poorly worded. I need to change grid and font within the level manager. Changed the one in the op manager with no effect on the level manager.
  23. For those of us with small monitors and big glasses, how do you change the row/font size? I can stretch the window out across my monitor, but the grids and font stay the same.
  24. I've got the fx3450 in my desktop machine and the fx 1500 in my laptop. Both work well, but the laptop has a quicker cpu and a better monitor, I like it better. The desktop just has whatever monitor Dell threw in as a package deal and it's not near as nice . The laptop is a 17" HP nw1440
  25. Well, hard to keep up. Sounds like the Haas/Fadal question has morphed into a 4020L and a 6030 Doosan. With 4 DVC-400s and a DHP-5000 here already I may need to learn Korean!
