  1. Hi Bob- I'd call this a minor bug sighting. If you don't have access to the solids selection options while doing an analyze, dynamic, then it shouldn't use the settings. I'll log this. Doug
  2. Stickgc- In the lower left corner of the preview nesting page, there is a "details" icon that will give you a part count:
  3. piranha- Is this happening at the machine or in Mastercam? If it's in Mastercam, do you think you can send me the file? [email protected]. Thanks! Doug
  4. Peter- if you hit the letter "s" on your keyboard while editing the control point, it'll activate the auotcursor and allow you to snap to a point. Doug
  5. I'm sure its a little more efficient than my way
  6. Sandybar- This is a little hokey, but it works: Do a cirle mill toolpath, whcih allows you to window all of the points. Set up your parameters like this: Make sure you put in the appropriate tool diameter. Now backplot with the rapids turned off, and save that as Geo. Voila! Circles at every point.
  7. Zoober- I think I've got it narrowed down to the fact that your drill points are Solids based. The testing I did was from wireframe points, which is why it worked. I got the same results that you're getting with your file. So I created a simple solid block with extruded cut holes, and used the solid to select my drill points. I was able to repeat your problem. I'll log this as a bug. I did notice that your file does include edge curves where all the drill holes are. You could use the wireframe instead of the solid to select your drill holes, and you'd be able to use the change at point command. Let me know if that works for you. And thanks for finding this!
  8. I can't repeat this in MR1 either. It seems to work. I know that's the last thing you'd want to hear. If you have a file you can send to me, I can see if it's maybe file specific. [email protected] Thanks! Doug
  9. Zoober- I'm able to "change at point" and add a comment. This comment does appear correctly in my code. I can also edit the comment and chage it to something different. This change also appears correctly in the code. is this what does not work for you? I'm running a beta version of MR2. I'll find someone here that's running MR1 to see if the problem occurs there. I just tried it in MR1, and it worked there too. Do you have a file you can e-mail to [email protected]?
  10. Hi All- We are looking for a success story from one of our users that use Inventor V10 for design and Mastercam X for machining. An article will be written and included on both ours and Autodesk's web page, giving your company some nice publicity. It may also be included in one of the many publications in which we advertise. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to [email protected] for more details. Thanks! Doug
  11. quote: Multi-axis programming with MC is limited. I am beginning to realize that MC may not handle the multi-axis (5 or more) programming as well as some other software. I am currently researching for a more robust multi-axis programming software. [Razz] MC works great for 3 and 4-axis stuff.. Before you make any hasty decisions, take a look at the upcoming MR2 release. There are a whole new set of very powerful multi-axis toolpaths found in this release. I've been testing them for a while now, and they are working out very well. They all have excellent gouge protection abilities. Look for MR2 around mid-May....
  12. quote: now you now how much power Doug has here! Pete just tells me what he knows I like to hear!
  13. Wow Thad! You found the only dialog box that I've never seen before. I get the same results. I'll log this. Thanks! Doug
  14. C-hook- There are many differences between 9 and X. Far too many to list here. Take a look at the videos found here: http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Multimedia/Default.aspx Start with the introducing Mastercam X video. It does a good job giving you a general overview of the differences. What type of machining are you doing? Doug
  15. Ivan- Do have anything to offer so that we may help you? The guys here are great, and I'm sure we can figure out your problem. Doug
  16. Tony- I've been playing around with your file and can get good motion, but just a little more than I'd like. I'll get it figured out soon, and send you my results! Doug
  17. Tony- For what you're describing, pencil should work. Do you have a file you can send to me? Doug
  18. Jagg- You're thinking of Mastercam demo, which will allow toolpaths, but limited posting output and no ability to save. Design LT will create wireframe only; no surfaces or solids. But it can import a variety of file types, and if those files contain surfaces, they will import. Design LT will also import Solids, but they will read into Mastercam as surfaces. Design LT will be available March 1.
  19. This feature is mainly used to give the user more control over entry/exit. This setting is only applied to the first and last move of the cut. Here's a 45 degree plunge angle with a 0 degree xy and a .5 plunge length: and here's the same thing with the XY angle set to 45 degrees: Hope this helps!
  20. Murlin- that's a good request. I'll enter it into our QC database. Thanks for the input! Doug
  21. J- If I'm following you correctly, I believe that you want to rotate your 1st view 180 degrees. To do this, set your plane to the 1st view. Then, from the planes pull-up menu at the bottom of the screen, choose "rotate", and rotate your view 180 about the appropriate axis. Mastercam will then prompt you for a new name for the new view that you created. can you look at all the views in the WCS view manager to see what you have. If I'm missing the boat, let me know!
  22. Todd- You may want to consider the setup sheet that Andreas has a download for a few topics down; X+ for vX MR1 / SP2. It has the ability to take a screen shot with a white background, and outputs it as a HTML, with other good info. I just tried it and it looks good!
  23. Hi Todd- Unfortunately, the studio setting were all removed for X. I'm trying to think of a workaround for you, but I'm not coming up with much. I'll keep trying! Doug
  24. are you using the "offset" or the "offset contour" command? The offset countour command allows you to chain and offset everything at one time.
