  1. I have a solid model with fillets around the top of a "rib" thats not flat. I created surfaces from solid to use to machine the fillet. The surfaces it created are real choppy around the edges..... I haven't used flowline much at all, but I see where it's having trouble making a smooth path due to this. I'm not the best at modifying surfaces to my liking, so any help is much appreciated! Planning on using a 3/8" ballnose. The File is on the FTP labeled: Fillet along 3D Rib. In the X5 files folder.
  2. I always Program my 4th axis toolpaths with Z0. being center point of rotary.... Your cutting at Z-.625 That has to be one of your problems..... Make a new WCS with Z0. at the rotation point of the rotary.
  3. I like to use a saved STL file for my rest roughing, a Lot better toolpath usually....
  4. Check out the Dynamic Mill Database: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AlMGCRpJJ9GIdG40T2NIZ1F4aS0xOHNGTGd3OTItanc&hl=en&single=true&gid=1&output=html
  5. 2:1 filter tolerance and loosen up your tolerance on 3D paths.
  6. I have a part on the 4th (vertical mill) that I have already programmed with lots of operations. The problem I have now is we have decided to fixture the part different..... From the top view its rotated 180 deg, The datum can still be in the same location it's just the opposite direction. My question is, is it possible to rotate my part WCS and regen my toolpaths to the new location?? Its about a days worth of programming if I have to re-toolpath it. Thanks in advance!
  7. Ok, I got it up on the FTP in the X5 files named Internal Rads. Full 4th VMC Just need to be able to surface the internal .05" radisus. Will be using the Harvey 3/8" 270deg with .75 reach lollipop mill. Thanks in advance!
  8. Hmmm. I'll give that a try next week. Thanks.
  9. Off work tomorrow, so won't be able to get it up till Monday. Gouging isn't my problem. I don't know how to make the path actually go down below the rad of the tool to achieve the Undercut. Knowing little to nothing about how flowline works isn't helping. The path I tried just cuts cuts air (not even close to enough depth on the tool for an undercut. Sorry for my Ignorance, just never had to do this before.....
  10. Ok, gotta bring this topic back up (new to internal rad's and Flowline) This job will be on a full 4th VMC. Mpmaster Post I have a .75 dia hole through a 4" tube with a .05 internal rad, wall thickness of about 3/8" I have ordered one of the Harvey 270 deg endmills for this. I modeled the fillet inside the hole, Custom tool on another level to use, then attempted Flowline..... Not having much luck (not really sure what im doing lol) James: I tried your "reader's digest" version, but not much Luck... ANY Help would be greatly Appreciated
  11. BTW: this thread is 3 months old He stated that he is using X5..... Yes, I have had problems with this myself. I Can Not get toolpath rotate to work right when using Axis Sub (4th axis vertical mill). Anyone else having this problem? Most likely its just the method I'm using?
  12. Using whatever you prefer as an engraving tool: ToolPath Contour > Window Chain the letters Turn tool comp to OFF Set linking parameters and your done. This is if your engraving on a flat surface
  13. Our Mori with the MAPPS IV Oi MD alarms out. Thank Goodness! That should throw a syntax error on every control I would think.
  14. When I rebuilt my puter, I just plugged in my new 2 TB HDD into an empty slot. I d/l free mirror software from western digital and mirrored the old drive to the New one. So easy a caveman can do it ;-) I don't know about going from Win 32 to 64 tho.....
  15. Found the Issue: If you save the file without the solid you've selected on another level it goes dirty. I saved the file with the correct level displaying that uses the opti-rough and all is good. Is this normal?
  16. X5 MU1 Win7 64 I have four different parts I've been working on that all use the opti-rough surface paths. Everytime I start up MC and open one of those files the Opti rough path is dirty??? After a Regen it's fine..... Any Ideas?
  17. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said. A maxium of. 003" radius ain't gonna get it :-)
  18. Yup, I was dealing with the same issue today using bullnose tools. I just resorted to using a flat endmill and leaving like .06" on the walls then go back with a bullnose and Contour.
  19. Change all yours views to 0 and lock on to first wcs in the Misc int page.
  20. Haven't looked at this thread in a bit, But Thanks a lot Jason!!!! I will dig through the post to try and figure where to place those comments. Not really the best at these things, and if anyone would like to chime in and help it Would be Greatly Appreciated. Again, Thanks!!
