It will depend on your post, how this is accomplished. The variable is typically cabs for absolute "A" motion and cinc for incremental "A" motion. So you would create your own variable and make that equal to cabs * 3600 and then format it to come out without a decimal. HTH -
G130 P0 will cancel the look ahead. (the P controls how many blocks to look ahead up to 15) EDIT S/B G103 P1 one block look ahead.... G187 will turn it back on. EDIT G103 P0 would turn it back on.... G53 is a one shot call to machine co-ordinates on a FANUC and a HAAS, not suppose to turn off Look ahead AFAIK, could be a side affect. Allan

Extended work offsets on a Centurian control G590 - G599 from what I can find. From the centurian 7 manual; Work coordinate system s (G54 - G59)(G5#0...G5#9) The dim e nsions of the work coordinates are alwa ys rela tiv e to the G92 Fl oating Zero Point. To set a work c oordina te sy stem , press F7 (Parm s ) - F2 (Coord). The work coordina te menu will appear allo wing you to enter the offset coord i na tes for each work coordinate system . The Hom e Position of f s ets ar e par a m e ters which shif t all co ordina te sys t em s relative to the M achine Zero Point. Normally the Mac h ine Zero P o in t and the Hom e Pos ition are th e sam e . The following extended work coordinate system s are available. G540 - G549 . . (60 total work offsets) . G590 - G599 Note: G540 - G590 are the same as G54 - G59 G55 X1 Y1 moves to X1 Y1 in work offset 2 G59 X1 Y1 moves to X1 Y1 in work offset 6 G54 is always the power on coordinate system Note: G54 - G59 offse t s are no t zeroed on power- up or after homin g. Use 4axis taper not direct, and it will work. The direct is going to output arcs that do not make sense to the control.

This forum is for post processors; you would get more/some help if posted on the industrial forum. Also sharing your Mastercam file would be helpful. I have personally never used a registry cleaner, don"t really think you should need to. Also never seen the SAVMOD error, so cant help you there sorry. Allan

Hello; The pocketing "Algorithm" in Mastercam would be considered intellectual property; so you will not see any formulas here. If fact EULA's specifically state that the software is not to be reverse engineered, so trying to figure out how Mastercam does it, goes against that. Two issues in generating contour-parallel tool paths for pocketing are: (1) a robust two-dimensional (2D)-curve offsetting algorithm; and (2) detecting and removing uncut regions. The 2D-curve offsetting solution has been widely studied, because it has so many potential applications. However, though the importance of the uncut problem in pocketing has long been recognized there have been few reported investigations on detecting and removing uncut regions. This paper presents a procedure for generating pocketing tool paths leaving no uncut regions. For the 2D-curve offsetting algorithm, we employ the PWID offset algorithm suggested by Choi and Park (Computer Aided Design, 31(12) (1999) 735) and expand the algorithm for offsetting areas having islands. Based on the expanded PWID offset algorithm, our solution to the uncut problem removes the uncut regions. Welcome to the forum! New to CNC and hardmilling / threadmilling lights out and 60Rc right out of the gate... wow! Hopefully you have a good background in Machining, "20 hp versus 30 hp",Horse power will be the least of your concerns "BT-40 versus CAT-40 spindle", just affects the thread and V flange of the tool holder (I think they are the same price for holders) "Big plus spindle versus standard", Big Plus gives better rigidly and you can run standard holders in that spindle "Mist collection", if you can afford it get it "Comparative rigidity and durability of the noted machines", IMHO the Doosan DMN-500 would be your best choice out of the models you list. "Comparative strength of service network in SW ON.", the dealers would be Fero Technique, Sirco, and SMS, all execlent Machine tool dealers and will stand behind their products. "10,000 rpm versus 12,000 rpm", depends on your tool size smaller tools faster RPM, todays day and age get the fastest you can. SMS also sells the Kitamura line, if I were doing Hard Milling I would look at that one, price point will be higher but you get what you pay for Have those dealers cut your part on their machine in front of you before cutting a P.O. I do not see mention of M198 P1234 Must have the P in the M198 and the file on the card should be saved as O1234 with no extension.

I believe Ridgid Pipe wrenches are the Mastercam of the pipe wrench world; I've never even seen a Stanley pipe wrench. Stanley ones are most likely made in China.

While the backplot and verify would not show actual motion, the 2 offset scenario and the potential for bad things to happen scares me. The U-Drill could be defined to be the actual diameter of the hole you wanted; then verify and stock recognition would be happy. Just a thought. Allan -

I've wondered if a custom drill toolpath would be something people would use. Pick yer drill..set step over and desired diameter, post would work out the motion, and one offset. -

Does the machine have the ISO option? Most earlier Mazak lathes ran Mazatrol only, ISO option needed to be purchased to be able to use G-Code. On those machines the error was produced when sending the file into the control; and was somewhat ambiguous IIRC. Allan -

What toolpath does everyone (anyone) use? Does anyone run 2 offsets on the u-drill? Like one for center and one for bbar edge? -
Go to line 1926: Should say pindex add this line pbld, n$, pfzout, e$ just before the pindex call. Old: sav_absinc = absinc$ absinc$ = zero pindex if retractflg, New: sav_absinc = absinc$ absinc$ = zero pbld, n$, pfzout, e$ pindex if retractflg, That will give you the retract to Z3 in your example. I would not call this isue a Bug as you have turned off the ret_on_indx function, that is on by default and is safe. Also you disabled the clearance in your toolpath. Allan

OK thanks for that Mike, so it was a milling tool/toolpath, not turning. Any body else doing actual turning? Like this video around the 30 second mark.

Eccentric turning, as in co-ordinated C and X motion to create an eccentric diameter. Is any one doing it; how are the results? Are you using a specific G code to accomplish this or long hand C and X motion? What brands of machines (controllers) support this type of turning via a G Code? Allan

Re: G Code verification Has anyone ever considered: Any computer program simulating G Code is not "Running" gcode, it is using an interpreter. So it reads G Code and interprets that into motion and actions. You would most likely find issues/limitations using with this "Running" G Code interpretation software (no matter the brand). The Machine simulation in Mastercam can be driven from the post processor (the same one that makes the G Code), isn't that good enough?

It is possible for the post processor to compensate for this; but not practical. I would look into what the "backlash" issue is: Worn nut on lead screw Loose/missing key on pulley of lead screw or coupler to motor. Thrust bearings on lead screw worn out Poor design There will be an adjustment in the controller software to correct for the backlash; the values for ball screw machine would be under .0002" or .005mm Definitely try to fix the backlash mechanically before adjusting for it in the parameters, large values will make loud noises and potential damage when the axis reverses direction.

I would look into the possibility of a ground loop. Laptops are not connected to electrical grounds; desktops are. Typically the pin one of your 25pin connector on HAAS machine is connected to the "drain" wire (The shielding on your serial cable). This wire or shielding should not come into contact with the pin one or d shell on the computer end (This would create a ground loop where current could flow through the drain wire inducing garbage on the signal lines). Double check this! Could simply be flakey serial port on mother board; just buy a PCIe serial port card and use that if all else fails. Allan
