  1. i have you beat keith i started around 1974 in the tool and die trade. my first job was running a stamping press.then i got to be an apprentice tool and die maker. finally got my journymans card and moved on to different jobs.i got my present job here in 1981 as a die helper then moved up to die leader. i then took over the milling department.we then got our first cnc machine and was asked if i wanted to learn it.well something new so yea what the heck.we since have gottentwo more machines and i ran them for almost 8 years. this past october i had a chance to program using mastercam so here i sit. started with 8.1.1 and am still learning the software that's why i can,t help much on the forum.so i'm an oldie and a newbie on here. marty

  4. well in 8 1/2 more years i would like to retire get a part time job and do a lot of fishing. would like to live in tenn. marty
  5. hi gcaputo i would run one program with no comp, and .010 in xy stock to leave. then one program with tool comp. hope this helps. marty
  6. i may be cofused here i don't know if you are doing 3d or 2d work. when we do 3d machining on a2 1.0 ball nose carbide coated insert 4500 rpm 80 ipm .05 dp cuts for roughong 3/4 4500 rpm 80-100 ipm same 1/2 6000 rpm 100-150 ipm same 2d cutting pockets,profiling we will use regular carbide cutters' no bigger than 1 inch. i don't know if this helps or not but maybe it gives you an idea. marty

  8. hello biss03 i'm not a big fan on lyndex holders. although we use them on two of our machines. the cutter tends to pull out.the salesman says to to stop tightening them after three clicks. but you know how that goes. we also use tecnara holders they are little more expensive, but they are rally good holders that will spin pretty true. hope this helps. marty

  11. hello everyone i'm wondering if anyone has come across this. in 9.1 if i pick a tool from my tool library let's say tool no.8. now in my contour parameters it will be a diffrent tool no. i did my first job in 9.1 today and noticed this. just wondering. won't be able to get back today have no work so i'm going home. bummer. again i thank you.time to go catch some bass motty
  12. tazzer when i used to cut alluminum (fancy gages)i would put crisco on the part. i also used wd-40 alot when cutting allum. i found the chips wouldn't stick to the cutter. this was done on 6000 max machine also. hope this helps. motty
  13. yes i verified a program and my cutter looked like it was 6 inches long so i messed around with it to and nothing seemed to change support our troops and have nice weekend motty

  15. for some reason i can't down load from the ftp site either.
  16. thad i made a pocket and used remachine and i couldn't get it to work either. so i reread the post and relized i have to make a new path and just coping it didn't work like in 8.1.1. is this correct? so after this it looked pretty good but i like to keep the tool up though. marty
  17. hi thad you could stategically break the chain where needed to manipulate your start point. i know you won't see this till later but what exacly do you mean. i am way caught up here and am now learning 9.1. i did a pocket and it seemed to look the same as 8.1.1. am i missing something here. see ya marty
  18. i don't know if this was said yet. i would like to see the (xy stock to leave) split so you can leave stock in just x or y. marty

  21. hello all does this happen to anyone else. when i hit alt o to bring my operations manager up all my tool paths are drawn again before my op manager comes up. its not a problem just curious plus i would like to make my colors darker but can't seem to get them to stay dark. again just curious.using 9.1 level 1 motty

  23. well it's me again i solved my first problem with the warning i was getting. now i still can't get my tools in my operatin import box. i compressed the file and did it the way it was explained. does the file have to be named a certain way? after all this when i hit select nothing comes up. hope you can help again motty
