  1. LMFAO Thanks Thad that made my day. I have to agree, I had to go to one here in town to get some Alum to gix a broken tap. Although this guy tattooed his whole face. I think this would be a good research project for Dateline News or something.
  2. If you have some examples I am sure a lot of people would be able to help a little more. But I think fboike is on the right track. However Adobe Streamline is at a decent price of around $150 and cheaper, however since you say you already have Corel Draw just use the Corel Trace package that comes withot. Trace has a lot of options that should come in handy. Just save your files as a DXF, DWG and you should be fine. Just a tip if you are designing lets say a logo be sure to watch your gradients, and color variations because it will be a pain to get a good looking conversions with multiple colors especially over 16. Good Luck and keep us informed if we can help you in any other way.
  3. Hey, I was bored and I was looking though CadCams FTP and there is a excellent video tutorial that describes everything perfectly. To whomever made that video thanks it helps even that much more.
  4. WOW Thanks guys, I think I understand it a lot better just after reading your post. Thanks a bunch for all the help.
  5. Is this board ever going tp get beyond the flamming, arguing, bashing and everything else and go back to the great place it was. There are so many brilliant people here, Rekd, James, Kevin, Charles and well everyone here that has answered a question. I can only hope I gain the ammount of knowledge most people here have. So lets drop these threads and start asking and answering questions related to mastercam.
  6. quote: Tazzer, have you downloaded the WCS in from te main mastercam site. this is a good starting tool. Yeah I got it and it helped a bunch, my biggest problem is creating custom planes, I have the regular 6 planes down alright although I have to correct my self every once in awile, but making custom planes is a pain in the arse.
  7. quote: so this is why we beat you guys each year? just kidding, just kidding! Yeah ,the last guy I talked to from pcc just had to say "4 brand new hass mini's" and I started drooling uncontrollably Hahaha funny you guys were lucky I couldn't make it to state for the precision machining, I place first here at local and from what I heard PPCC doeasn't even know how to use a micrometer. Just a little Joke, After all your best Mastercam Teacher left you guys and came here. Actually were not getting the 4 mini. We are getting a 1 Mini, 1 Toolroom Mill, VF3, VF1, and a Horizontal, plus 2 SL-20 one with live tooling and C-Axis, and a HL-20. Anyway you guys better start thinking hard on your Wildest part contest for next year, I have something up my sleeve.
  8. Awesome this is "Tip of the Day" thanks guys.
  9. WCS is one of those things that I will never fully understand. I have the same problem I would love to know as well. Especially creating your own plane in WCS. WCS is such a huge part of certification and there isn't enough info on it in any of the manuals. I think WCS could and probably is the best part of MC but I cannot get the hang of it.
  10. Hey Skeetboy25 your at Pikes Peak Community Right?!? If so drop out and come down to Pueblo Community, our CNC curriculum is unbelievable, plus with all the new Haas machines and new revamped Mastercam curriculum. Drop me a e-mail if you'd like.
  11. If I remember right there isn't a way for one of us to change the size of an image. However one of the moderators can set a size limit that will resize the image to a particulat pixal size that way we won't have a huge image in a thread.
  12. I just had the same problem, here is a link to my thread and I think it will probably answer any of your questions. http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...ic;f=1;t=006727
  13. quote: Does anything run "WELL" on ME ? True Dat ME is probably the worst OS that you could run any program on. I'd suggest either using Windows 98 SE or XP professional.
  14. To post a picture just input the URL in between the following command. [ IMG]URL HERE [ /IMG] An easy way is to just click on the image button on the reply/thread screen and copy paste the url.
  15. Wow you know what the more I listen to you guys the more I understand where everyone is coming from, thanks for setting me straight. All of my complaints on how the post processors work with resellers and everything does seem meaningless when you take into the account on how good thier customer service is and how user friendly the software package is. I am learning something in every thread here thanks a bunch guys.
  16. Wow, what a night for a great homerun derby then finally a good night sleep and now I have morphing power. Naw it is OK I thought about a lot of what I said and I can see where everyone is coming from, and I can admit I was wrong with some of my comments that I made I must apoligize as well. When I comment I comment on my present situation without thinking of other people, other situation, and the world as a whole. I by no means have any problems with CNC Softwares policies, my reseller or anyone here. To be honest everyone is a great group of people that understand this industry better then I do right now. I should sit back and understand what you guys are saying because you are out there doing this everyday and know what you are talking about. Again I apolize to anyone I may have offended, it was not my attention to do so. I just need to think a little longer and see the whole picture before commenting on a situation like this. Again thanks for all the knowledge I have gotten from everyone here I really appreciate it.
  17. Thanks guys, I cannot thankyou on how much this has helped, I really appreciate everything, this thread has been printed and put in my book of things to remember. Thanks again
  18. Hi Kevin thanks for the reply. I just have to say your my hero. I wasn't hitting enter after putting in a field. It works perfectly now and I have the gear that I need. Thanks a whole bunch, However if anyone still knows what the following things are I would like to know. Number of pairs of Arcs in Involute Roll Diameter Roll Measurement Flank Angle Thanks again
  19. I thought I would give this thread a little bump as I need to give a big shout out to everyone here. It just amazes me on how great this industry is when a group of guys and yes gals can actually sit and talk, joke and help each other out. What makes it more impressive is the more than impressive help that you give to a student as my self. With that being said I would most love to thank Charles, Rekd, Reece Gibson, Budgie, Master Whidbey, Kevin Clark, and everyone that has responded to my threads or for that matter any thread here. I have learned so much in such little time I cannot show you how thankful I am to everyone. Thanks Chris
  20. I think I have just met the firing line. I also would like to thank Rekd for not taking the final blow. Oooh and sure why not I would love to write everyones Post Processors for free. Now if it runs correctly that is your problem. Haas VF post processors I have? Charge the crap out of them those picky xxxx. You don't have rent, insurance, car payment, a family to feed, etc. right? Nope I don't have a single bill I put all my money into my education well I guess I do have a bill. It is a damn conspiracy. Charity maybe that is wrong with me, I do too much charity work, someone needs to slap me. "Stupidity that good takes teamwork" No I just believe that there is a Me, Myself, and I in Teamwork. Thanks guys and sorry for the rambling, I love debating wierd things like this. [ 07-14-2003, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: Tazzer ]

  22. quote: Post processor policies are set by the local dealer, and thus varies between territories. Then I think CNC Software should have more control over the Post Processors. I mean if there is a customer that needs a post processor and there is one currently made for that particular machine then it should be at no cost. However if a customer want something changed within the post itself then let the reseller charge the crap out of them.
  23. I'm not out in the work force yet so I am just commenting on what I hear and see. I love mastercam, heck a year ago at this time I truly never heard of it nor was I thinking about being in machining. I think mastercam and the CNC software team know what they are doing compared to some of the other software manufactures out there. However I have seen two pit falls that hopefully will soon be fixed or dealt with. The first is the pricing of educational software. Now I have no problem forking over the $300 for the first nine months then $125 every 9 after that but there are a lot of people that suffer with a hefty price tag like that. Second problem I see is the post processors, all the other CAM packages I have had the time to talk about with dealers, students, teachers and users all compliment on the technical support that they get including post processors. I believe that items like post processors should be considered free to anyone that purchases a software package like mastercam. Now if they want coolant on a certain way or other nik-naks then charge the crap out of them. Not every business can afford fees on top of other fees just to get a machine to work. This is just my current opinion and is always welcomed to be challenged.
  24. Well still banging my head on the wall I had a lot of the numbers screwed up but there are a few items that I still have no idea what they are. Can anyone explain what the following are and how to achieve them with a mathmatical formula. Number of pairs of Arcs in Involute Roll Diameter Roll Measurement Flank Angle I have looked in the Machinery's Handbook, a couple of my school books, a engineering math book and I cannot find any information on the list above. All the entries below have been fixed and double checked and are correct. Type of Gear: External Roll Measurement Method: External Number of Teeth: 32 Number of teeth to create: All Pitch diamter: .66635 Diametral Pitch: 48.0226 Outside Diameter: .708 Root Diameter: .663 Pressure Angle: 14.5 Circular Tooth Thickness: .03271 Root Fillet Type: Specified Root Fillet Radius: .0062470587 Tip Fillet Radius: 0.0 Inputing it this way and keeping the 4 unkonwn items I now get 2 full arcs. Anyone have any other suggestions.
