  1. This thread won't die, will it? Mark
  2. quote: I remember a parameter or setting that prevented any XY until Z is done. No, it's most likely programmers mistake. There is no parameter setting for the machine to prevent xy move until z retract is done... I know some people could use one Kind regards, Mark
  3. quote: I guess that I thought (subconsciously) that rigid tapping locked up the feed and speed, kept them linked no matter what Yes it does on newer machines. On older ones it's another issue But even on new ones it's a parameter setting to not read spindle override while rigid tapping (I think). Mark
  4. You mean override spindle speed? Mark
  5. quote: Also, these taps are a little "cheap looking" Yes, there is no cutting edges on them. Greenfield is a fairly good brand. Lets check again if your rpm and feedrate is proportionate to this: S915 F45.0 (for M8*1.25) Kind regards, Mark
  6. quote: I think I need to just squirt raw coolant on it when tapping? You were not listening motodog Do NOT attempt to use a roll tap without coolant. Flood it with coolant and a tap should do thousands of good threads. Kind regards, Mark
  7. Take care Jim Kind regards, Mark
  8. quote: If not we nicely ask them to clarify. +1 Jim I learned my lesson Something has been bothering me for the last few days Jim (...facetious...) My appologies. There, I feel better now Kind regards, Mark
  9. quote: earn how to spell you illiterate moron... (i know that was a really big word but it means that you can't read or write) Hey student, hold your horses will you... Spell check is not required for this forum Besides the guy is from Norway, and no it is not one of the states of The Union. Welcome to the forum Ketil, I'm sure somebody will give You a hand with your problem. Kind regards, Mark
  10. quote: I was kidding Mark, note the smily I though so Thanks for the offer MayDay. Will see what I can do at my end, if nothing then I'll post again. Is this forum the best or what Kind regards, Mark
  11. Yep, searched the forum and it is an add on quote: for a substancial fee I can convert it for you ??? Kind regards, Mark
  12. Is it an add on to MC? I got a few files from customer in pro e( .prt.1) I need to see but MC is asking for an acces code. Kind regards, Mark
  13. quote: We were preparing to send out an X Bulletin So soon? Kind regards, Mark
  14. OMG. Who would have thought that alum tapping would generate 49 posts. Will you tap those holes already PLEASE Kind regards, Mark
  15. Not hard but fairly abrasive. Cutting condition are on the side of 303SS but expect tool life to be a bit shorter than with 303. Is it going to be heat treated? Kind regards, Mark
  16. quote: I believe for work stations, Win2K is more stable That's what I got, Win 2000. I got it fixed last night (cimco that is ) When I made a backup, only .bak files in Cimco had read only properties in main folder, but the rest of the files in several folders were o'k. Not sure why it happened (it should't) , but it's as good as new now. Kind regards, Mark
  17. quote: I also intend to hand lube Why not use a coolant? (I always do.) Do not try to run it dry, alum will stick to the tool and ruin it propably on a first hole... Kind regards, Mark

    LEVEL

WHAT ???. Can't hear you I'm assuming you "yelling" about level of MC. Level 1 lets you create 2d toolpaths Level 2 lets you cut one survace (with multiple check surfaces) at a time. Level 3 lets you cut multiple surfaces (with miltiple check surfaces) at a time. Regards, Mark
  19. quote: Can someone inlighten me in thread formers, why use them insted of cutting taps? For one, never broke one (yet) For M8*1.25 use .2913 or "L" drill and no worries. Will run forever in alum. Kind regards, Mark
  20. Looks like nobody mentioned this yet but how about a radio button (right before we post a prgm) asking us how many parts we need to machine and automaticly dividing program into subs by tool order: O1000 t1 m6 . G54.... m98p1101 g55.... m98p1101 . . t2 m6 . g55.... m98p1102 g54.... m98p1102 ... and so on If you want to get fancy there could be another button for drill ops. optimization so a drill toolpath would go from right to left in first tool and from left to right on next tool... I now use toolpath transform to do just that but it can be a pain in the arse to go this way sometimes There is a post avail. for download that does similar thing but doesn't do other things I'd like Just my 2 cents Kind regards, Mark
  21. Response time sucks around here j/k The weird thing is I had to go in and edit my post (to make changes that I didn't backup before HDD failure) using Cimco and everything worked great. Was able to save the file and all. Begining to think it might be win 2000 issue (win2000 is up to date with patches) Anyone, anyone... Kind regards, Mark
  22. I had to reload MC9 due to hard drive failure together with Cimco Edit OEM ver. 4.40.02 (it's the latest) and I'm getting an error in Cimco editor: "File save error. Cannot create a file when that file already exists". Read only is unchecked, and everything else looks good too. WTH? Your help as always greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Mark
  23. Got mine today. Nice touch, handwritten name and address Where is the CD? Mark
  24. quote: Ron: I know a fella in this area that might work for you. I'll try to get hold of him and get back with you. Right after a Sunday Mass... j/k Just had to go for it Regards, Mark
  25. quote: In the mirror function in CIMCO Edit, you enter a point on the mirror line, and the direction (angle) in degrees of the mirror line. I've tried this about a year ago on a trial version of cimco but would't work. It was for a lathe nc file. I called Cimco to find out what gives, talked to couple people but never got a call back We were ready to purchase a full version of your software if it could do just that. Luckily Roger Martin from CNC Software was kind enough to put together a little VB script that took care of things. Kind regards, Mark
