  1. quote: all in all a completely normal day, that is until Mrs. Cam grabs fastercam by the throat and says – WTF did you say? LOL. I like that... Regards, Mark
  2. quote: in version 6.12 you could set a feedrate on entry/exit lines Ver.9. has override feed rate in lead in/out. Is it what you have in mind? Regards, Mark
  3. There is a post here available for download that does this, but always in the same dir. G54 to G58. What I do is create subs for each tool and edit a main prgm this way. Righ to left then left to right and so on. Wish there was a way to transform toolpath by tool not by ops, or is it already there? Regards, Mark
  4. quote: How do you calculate plunge rate for a given tool? I am just wondering where you get an initial value for this field Initial value comes from Tool parameters tab. Plunge rate will depend on mill used, material, cutting conditions and so on.... quote: "% of matl.cutting speed/feed per tooth" This comes from job setup, feed calculation: material or from tool. Never used it, to many variables to have it set ahead of time... Hope it hepls Regards, Mark
  5. Plunge rate is taken from tool parameters page. Feed-Plunge-Retract rates. What are you trying to acomplish Gregg? Regards, Mark
  6. quote: Nothing comes up under CBT or Circuit board Trip on an initial search though. Try looking in your M code list, maybe it is there. Regards, Mark
  7. quote: Is there a way to adjust the entry and exit ramp moves separately when using circle mill? Not really. You have more control over entry exit using toolpath-contour-chain (or single)than with circle mill toolpath. Other than this make a larger pilot hole Regards, Mark
  8. quote: I'm trying to convince the customer to switch to delrin. Not much difference between the two. With UHMW when doing contour or pocket you need to leave a bit of stock for one final pass to get a good finish. Sounds like a food industry... Hope it helps Regards, Mark
  9. quote: Is this an option that can be set at control or an option that Fanuc has to turn on? On Fanuc it's "M20" code for automatic power shut off. Check your manuals first to make sure. Some machines have a little switch called power interception switch (I think) right next to a main switch, then when tripped will shot down a machine after getting to M30. Regards, Mark
  10. quote: I have noticed that when I use windows 98 I have far less bombouts then with windows 2000 ??? In 4+ years of MC and Win 2000 on the same pc I had no more then a dozen of them. And that's because I've done something stupid Regards, Mark
  11. quote: crash prone version 10 It's not even out yet... WTF is this about??? legal or not that is a question... Mark
  12. quote: Fadal definitely will accept cc on an arc but may or may not adjust to it depending what mood it's in. I'm not surprised... Regards, Mark
  13. I'm not a big fan of proprietary controls, especially fadal and haas as they are not very reliable machines to begin with. CC can be a very tricky thing to deal with. Anyone willing to chip in on this one? Kind regards, Mark
  14. Which ones Hardmill? None of the fanuc and yasnac controls we have would do it. Trust me I tried... Not familiar with other controls so guess this is what you have in mind? I think there is 3d cc available for fanucs but other then that.. Very interested to know. There is always something new to learn Regards, Mark
  15. quote: some of our fanuc controls will not accept a comp in (wear) on a circle Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think no control will accept cc on a circular approach without a linear move Regards, Mark
  16. By the way, you want to CLIMB in UHMW. Regards, Mark
  17. quote: My part has about 30 ops, and it'd take some time to mirror the geo and reselect everything. I'd mirror the geo and in every op reverse all chains and select compensation left which will give you climb milling as in original ops. or whatever you had originally. Do it this way all the time with no problems. Regards, Mark
  18. quote: A friend of mine needs some 3-d programing done, how much is a basic programing rate per hour. I'm not sure how to charge him!! Simple, first time is free, especially for a friend. If he likes the toolpaths and comes back for more then an overtime rate sounds fair. If the job is interesting and I might learn something from it I'd still do it for free. Regards, Mark
  19. "Speed/feed for gold" Hold tight and run as fast as you can... On a serious note, I'm curious what speed and feed will work on this. Keep us posted Jimmy. Mark
  20. quote: Get back to work Mark. If you have time for the forum you should have time to come visit me ....... Hi Gregg. I'm swamped with work here but I can swing over after work (7 pm or later any day). Let me know when you get back from your trip. After checking out your web site I have to see your ops., looks very interesting. Besides, you mentioned a bar nicelly equipped... Regards, Mark
  21. Hi Roger. Thanks again for this script you wrote a while ago for flipping x axis(X- to X+). Works great. Use it all the time to transfer programs from old Mori to new one. Kind regards, Mark
  22. Try this: 300rpm/tpi=feed rate in inches per minute Mark
  23. 2.12 threads per inch? Definetly wrong calculation...unless it is a really big tap Regards, Mark
  24. Just how rigid is it in comparison to other cnc's? Regards, Mark
  25. quote: Mazak Variaxis Nice machines. How do you like them so far? Regards, mark
