Mastercam Resellers/Dealers are technical support in addition to being vendors of the software itself. The company that sold you your seat of Mastercam will have the correct version of the files needed to fix your issue.

unfortunately, the Mastercam X8 demo software expired at the end of July. CNC Software, the creators of Mastercam, designed the free demo software to expire roughly 2 years after that software had been released for sale. We don't have any control over the software expiration date, we're just allowed to distribute free copies of it with our books. The copy of the book you had is likely a student reselling their material as we don't sell our books on Amazon.com, only on Amazon.ca and everything older than 2017 was removed earlier this year.

However, you can download the 2017 or 2018 versions of the HLE here: https://www.emastercam.com/files/category/29-mastercam-demo-software/ The interface is dramatically different from X8, however.

The system requirements link in geirsj's post is the best place to start. You can get away with being a little bit below specs if all you're doing is running the HLE and using practice parts but if you can afford it you should strive to at least meet the minimum specs, especially in terms of having a dedicate graphics card/sufficient RAM.

It can also be downloaded by any students enrolled in our eCourse site licenses. We're set up with our printer so any physical books will also include copies of the HLE on DVD.

The HLE of Mastercam is designed by CNC Software (The creators of Mastercam) to expire roughly 2 years after the software itself has been released. The X9 HLE/Demo software will be expiring for everyone at the end of the month. Our books for X9 and earlier no longer include the HLE and all of the store packages warn people of this. If the school has a lab with their licensed versions of Mastercam installed on the computers those won't expire but unfortunately the HLE will expire and we don't have the power to change the date. Sorry for the inconvenience!

This site is only allowed, by CNC Software, to only provide the version to customers.

They've actually changed how the HLE works with the more recent versions. You only have to install it once and then it'll last until the final expiration date. X8 and X9 are expiring at the end of this month, 2017 should be next summer, and 2018 should be the summer of 2019.

The CAD Import & Mill Essentials/Advanced (or Mill Level 1/Mill Level 3 for versions prior to X9) eBooks all start with importing CAD models instead of geometry creation. The Multiaxis Essentials and Multiaxis Advanced books also deal a lot with already created geometry.

It sounds like you received an install disc for a licensed version of the software by mistake. I have given your account permission to download the HLE, as long as you're logged in you can do so here: https://www.emastercam.com/files/file/1000-mastercam-x9-home-learning-editiondemo-software/

Uninstall the version you have on your computer before installing the HLE.

Do you know where you purchased the book? e.g., Amazon, school bookstore, eBay, Craigslist etc. I'll see if I can track down where the book came from to make sure this doesn't happen again.

We actually developed the sitewide subscription with people overseas in mind. One subscription gets you access to every single eBook and video for as long as you're subscribed. All the older versions of Mastercam and any new material that's released, no need to worry about shipping. We're planning on releasing some brand new video series (as in, not just updated version of the 4 we have) that subscribers will have access to as well.
