  1. It all boils down to who touched the post as Colin would attest. I inherited a Postability post that was not aligned with a Siemens 840D that was supposedly a fully baked post. I found a company, worked with the post writer with my expected output, we got it all dialed in on the second iteration.
  2. I have had it change the active number of teeth from 1 to 2, which makes an interesting thread.
  3. Obviously the ends must justify the means. I have retrofitted a Robodrill and DMG Milltap to toolchange, using only 1-pocket, and utilizing custom M-Codes to operate (2) 150,000 RPM turbine spindles. Its pretty cool drilling holes at 160 I.P.M with a #75 carbide drill. BTW...I have (6) Cat 30, 65,000 RPM, Air Turbine Spindles, never used, for sale if anyone is interested.
  4. I use them all as others have mentioned, its machine based as well as part and path specific which drives my decision.
  5. I found a couple of bugs 2017 which Mastercam has been very responsive to helping resolve. The first issue is with chamfer mills, I must use a 0.000 tip due to the parts we make, although the edit tool parameters will not recognize and backplot a 0.000 tip, yet when you change it to a 0.0001 tip it backplots accordingly. There appears to be a import/merge issue with native solidworks files, which is under review. But the secret squirrel issue of the day is how to insert a line, or a point, at a specific location, and I found out that all that is required it to tap the "X" on the keyboard to open the dialog box. Mastercam Maintenance has its benefits, and immediate support goes a long way when trying to get answers quickly, and accurately.
  6. I had similar issues, and after enough investigation I was told "IF" the machine (Specifically Haas) is not grounded properly, you could drop data connectivity, therefore I purchased a filter from a DNC distributor for $99, plugged it in to the control, and I have not had an issue since.
  7. There is not a story other than what I had asked for above. They have been very helpful with repairing the bad stuff I inherited. I cannot find this line in ptap$ as E value now is outputting "E0" I have ptap$ #Canned Tap Cycle pdrlcommonb pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgdrill, *sgdrlref, pxout, pyout, pfzout, pcout, prdrlout, *pitch, "R1" strcantext, e$ pcom_movea Thanks in advance.
  8. This seems way too easy, why didn't my reseller understand this? I will test this Monday. Thank you.
  9. I am looking for a little help with modifying my post to "Tap' for a Mitsubishi control (Yes I know, was not my choice) and their build date was in 1996. Is there a way to modify the post within Mastercam to get the desired output? I must manually edit tap cycles for three machines, any help is greatly appreciated. I have tried my reseller, although he is not sure how to get these results. Sample... Normal Haas/Fanuc 10-32 tap cycle X3.07 Y-.187 S400 M3 G43 H5 Z1. M8 G84 G98 Z-.6 R.06 F12.5 Our Mitsubishi 10-32 tap cycle X3.07 Y-.187 S400 M3 G43 H5 Z1. M8 G84 G98 Z-.6 R.06 E32 , R1 <<< Threads Per Inch / Rigid tap Thank you in advance
  10. I can, although its not a real cam, I am on my way into the office, and will post ASAP.
  11. I have a similar issue with milling a cam on a horizontal full-forth, I have a solid model that is 21.3 in diameter, I use an x-axis substitution and when I chain the geometry and when I watch the backplot the tool bounces off of the edge leaving an uneven machining operation. I know there is a way to smooth this out, yet my reseller or Mastercam has not been able to explain how to achieve a smooth toolpath. I am using the generic 4-axis that came with X7 and our custom post. What check boxes should I use, or should I only use a centerline and compensate both sides?
  12. Thank you for responding, I Dl'd the reports, although I could not get the (Manual Entry comments in your Operations Manager) to post in the active report trying the various files on the FTP. I am sure I a click off somewhere, although I have not had another minute to sort it out. Edit: Got it, TY!!! Jeff
  13. Sir, How did you get the comments to display? Was this from a manual entry on the tree or another source? Ty in advance.
  14. 3rd String, you are the bomb, that was the step I was missing. Is there any customization to the current X+ such as placing a company logo and adjusting font size and such?
  15. Uncle, Thank you, how do I access the FTP? Sorry for the newbie question. Third string, the issue is that it X+ does not show up on the right click tool bar menu for me to choose.
  16. Thank you, I have the active reports PDF and gone through some 60-pages of 100 of training,I get the idea, yet I am still far away. For example, I downloaded the X+ for X7 or X6 for that fact, and when It installs its goes somewhere into infinity as it does not show up on the toolbar menu. Our crazy system is set-up on a server, and I think the direction of the install went awry. I have also not figured out on how to get the manual entry to output from the operations manager in the setup sheet, I use this for set-up information. I know If I was still in Illinois, I know this re-seller could help me through this issue, Any help on the two issues I would be very appreciative. Thanks,
  17. Brian, Your output is exactly what I am looking for, I have took the time to build my own page with the help of the tutorials, although it needs more refining. I want it to output my manual entry that I am currently using as set-up instructions within the program, yet I have not found out how to get the code correct. Could you provide any input on how you got your tool list to display? TY in advance.
  18. The control is a Mitsubishi, and the machine is a 1999 Akira Seiki V2. Typically in other shops they used offset # 199 for engraving, Our machines are limited to offset 99. Thank you for your help.
  19. I have a few macro programs that is using an offset that our archaic equipment cannot handle, I also have ordered the Peter Smid CNC Custom Macro book, although I am looking for some pointers prior to receiving the book. I am looking to engrave 4-digit Julian Dates and 7-digit serial numbers, although the Macro uses offset 199 and our machines only reach 99. Is this an easy correction/repair? Thank you in advance.
  20. I have been requsted to build a custom set-up sheet, although I am not sure where to start. I have a logo, but there are so many nice versions placed on this site, I am not sure how to begin building such a page. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  21. This has been recurring for weeks with our system, it seems to be more pronounced with two of us programming than only one at a time. We have tried rebooting the server, and that helps for a day, but its terribly wasting my time re-opening Mcam.
  22. I have been struggling with a few issues regarding tooling, and this topic got me thinking, and I would appreciate any input. I am milling 316SS using a 3/16 solid carbide end mill and looking for a better performing with less tool pressure. I have used both Helical and Walter tools with the nod going to Helical on price and performance. Where my issue lays is in the burrs generated during the cut cycle, and as we all know, the larger the burr, the more stress being introduced into the material. While machining a test piece from 304ss the part remained stable within 0.001 flatness, whereas my 316ss actual piece run with the same program was 0.009 out of flat, and both parts were flat w/i 0.0005. I have 400-inches of linear/radial machining, I am machining the grooves .200 deep in 0.045 DOC to keep as stable as possible, and running at 200SFM. Any tooling input would be greatly appreciated.
  23. I have project similar with the exception I do not want my drill to leave the hole. I am using a 12-inch 3/16 drill and drilling 7.5 inches deep, if I completely pull from the pilot hole I risk the drill whipping and creating damage to the existing hole. For example, I will have the hole pre-drilled 3.5" and I want my extention drill to only retract to z-.18 before it returns to continue drilling. This aforementioned manual code is what I assumed I would need to do, and this forum helps confirm my initial thought. THX!
  24. Thad, Thank you for the tip, I missed that checkbox.
