  1. Don't know what kind of control you have on that makino but on our okuma's with osp200 controls we can use E0. in the tap cycle to align the spindle to the same position every time on tapped holes. That way we can retap if necessary.
  2. Well I am doing something wrong because its still giving me that error. My reference path is c:mcamX4 I added Nethook 2.0 version 1.0.3427.43174 to references. In debug I set c:mcamX4sdkdebugmastercam.exe for start action external program I set c:mcamX4 as the working directory.
  3. I keep getting the error after I reinstall it. Tried installing it twice so far and no luck. edit:: I didn't know there was a SP for .NET so I'm downloading the SP1 now so hopefully that will fix it.
  4. I got a hold of the sdk yesterday from my reseller for X4 and when I try and use the debug version of mastercam.exe I keep getting the missing file mfc90.dll error. What am I doing wrong??
  5. Thanks for the replies guys I'm liking the free version thing Good way to get my feet wet! I don't think I'm going to dive into any version of C anytime soon although I do find myself sitting here cursing because I want a program but don't know how to do it. I can edit posts, make excel macros and other simple stuff. I figure it's about time to dive in to programming and get it done the way I want. Another question. If I plan on going from windows xp pro (32bit) to windows 7 (64bit) should I be concerned with how I make this program?
  6. After seeing what X+ and the new Active Reports can do I wanted to know what do I need to learn in order to do something similar to these programs but in my own way. I like the output of .XML so I'm probably going to do something with that.
  7. :drrroooooolll: Dynamic planes, Dynamic Xform mmmmmm.
  8. hmm so volumill finally dropped that crazy web thing. Might give it a go now.
  9. We had the model of those fans prior to the one shown in the picture. Terrible things those are! Extremely loud, wear out fast from steel chips, and tore the paint off the inside of our machines from the chips flying around. Was funny watching it work though
  10. Not that I am aware of since you are selecting the face, those edges are a part of that face. Looks like you are gonna have to select each edge to get it
  11. The machine doesn't need high speed option, it just needs to cut right. If you have problems with making arcs it sounds like a machine problem. Slop in the bearings, backlash... any number of things would cause that to happen.
  12. Ok after opening the file in notepad it popped up with UG in it. I thought this translator came with mastercam.
  13. geez I have no idea, it might be pro-e.
  14. I got a couple files today that are .prt and I can't get them open. Just gives me an error that file type is not supported or it is a newer version. Any ideas?
  15. The reason to keep v9 for me is because I have over 3000 files in .ge3, .mc8 and .mc9 that I do occasionally have to re-open.
  16. http://www.matweb.com/search/DataSheet.asp...c5a57067&ckck=1 Data sheet for that material. Try that site.
  17. On top of some of the suggestions already mentioned, I also occasionally use this method. Xform - Project - 1.00 (copy) Put the result on a different lvl then run overlap chook with delete duplicates.
  18. quote: catia and solidworks is owned by the same co. True, they are still seperate entities and operate with their own business models.
  19. Thanks Mike S I used the edrawings viewer from Solidworks and it kept the formatting. Pete files will be sent shortly. I figured it would be something that doesn't translate over well to mastercam.
  20. Lately I've been getting .dxf files of blueprints for the parts we are making along with .stp files of the solid model. The .dxf files of the blueprints are using my settings for text so when I open them up, the text is everywhere. Is there any way to stop the mastercam translator from using my text settings and use the translated files text settings? I don't think its a font type problem, I think its the character spacing and extra line spacing that's the problem.
  21. It has nothing to do with the different software's inability to translate Catia files. It has everything to do with Catia charging companies (Solidworks, MasterCam, etc...)for the right (license)to use a translator for their files, so the cost is redirected to the end user. Seems to me they are still trying to squeeze every penny they can when the rest of the world has moved on.
  22. Mitsubishi and Kennametal have them as well. I really like Kennametals system of getting data. Now if they would just make em setup for Mastercam it would be perfect
  23. The tool library hasn't changed since I started using mastercam in v5. It would be nice to be able to have my highfeed cutters AND holder library for milling. Man do I sound like a broken record....
  24. Glad to help! I hope this leads to a bug fix
