  1. Thanks for the info guys, I fully believe the info is given more for personal gain than true knowledge or info. And yes Ron the way you calibrate your probe is directly related to the accuracy of the probe. The same group that is passing this info does not always center their probes before using them. I always set the run out to less than a 0.0001" then I know the repeatability will be in the boundary of what I need. P.S. I knew your point Ron just I needed a solid answer this way I could show the purchasing manager what was said which also confirmed what I had told her. Thanks again.
  2. I really think our purchasing manager is getting taken for a ride. She was told from what I under stand the probes would not calibrate correctly or be repeatable without using ZEISS. Thanks for all the responses I'm trying to give her a leg to stand on when she voices her opinion about ZEISS not being worth the extra mark up in price due to there not being enough of a difference in quality or performance.
  3. So Ron, I really value your opinion what would you recommend, and do you see a quality difference between RENISHAW and ZEISS? Tim
  4. What type of probe tip do you use in your probe in you machines? We have an MP 40 - 2 and use RENISHAW extensions and styli. Our purchasing manager has been fed a line that only ZIESS should be used at an increased cost of around 35% Personally I do not see where there is any major difference.
  5. I'd just about kill to have true position tolerances of 0.00787 MMC.
  6. "If you "happen" to use Techniks holders, if you do a search I shared a library of CAT40 holders" At no additional charge too, much needed and many Thanks for the Free bee.
  7. All I can say about the opinion and comments from someone is this. Some of us get it some of us don't some of us will and some of us won't. Which one you are in that statement is up to you, but if you pick the wrong one you loose.
  8. Murlin, if they haven't offered you a dealers license yet they should. I can't think of a better spokes person from what I just seen.
  9. Master80 my comment would definitely not be directed at you. You have asked for help to do something you knew could be done but just didn't have the skills yet. Now your reseller and a few others........
  10. This is truly like watching poetry in motion, plus the added benefit of someone saying it can't be done and it is being done right before your eyes..........
  11. :unworthy: Job well done Sir......
  12. REPORTED!!!!! mis judgement of ownership.... Welcome to the forum
  13. Nosey plier, it's the one to the right of the Gossip plier............
  14. I run the IMCO and MA FORD both at 200-300 SFM and .0007-.0013 CPT. They can handle more under the right conditions but tool life starts to suffer. And yes this is running them in Titanium.
  15. Bang for the buck IMCO M706 series, if not try MA FORD Tuff Cut XR7 end mills. WALTER will be coming out possibly with a titanium line soon.
  16. It's a buyers market out there and let the buyer beware. If you don't ask for service records up front you get what you deserve.
  17. I just put in for a new machine from HAAS 1000psi is what I asked for. Please not that in order to get the auxiliary filter you have to buy it on the 300 psi it's not standard. I wouldn't run with out it.
  18. Capto tool holders for length. Iscar makes some good stuff, also look at Walter. They have a good line up of indexable and screw fit endmills.
  19. Bob, Start looking into fixturing and part holding. TECO (just one brand) makes CMM clamp kits. They look like a Stephens plate (http://www.stevenseng.com/). Once you get up and running you can start building programs to inspect parts in much the same way you have the probes in you machine run. At the last place I worked we would have target points that you would manually center on then run a sub program that would find all the datum features on the inspection fixtures. Thru this process it would align and level to this location, then you would load the inspection program hit run and it would run an inspection program and print the results. Once you have this dialed in any one can set up and inspect with minimum training.
  20. And Yes planes.........there's no Tattoo to call it out for the inspectors.
  21. From what I've seen at work most discrepancies are caused from improperly calibrated tips.
  22. Way cool Bob, congratulations !!
  23. If it took 2 weeks too slow............. Destiny also makes a pretty good end mill in there VIPER line.
