I used to mill a lot of delrin parts but never needed to stress relieve. Careful machining techniques like balancing stock removal caused little or no movement.Stock came in large sheets and cut the workpieces out of them Once made flat parts stayed flat We used all black delrin, don't know it that makes a difference or not
I would stay with XPPro until it's successor has been in the field for at least six months for consumer bug testing. It would be nice to see Mastercam ported for Linux and Unix, but let them master Windows with X first.
If you have access to a scanner, scan into monochrome bmp, import into Mastercam through Rast2Vec. If you do not have license for rast2Vec, you need software to vectorize. Wintopo is available as a free download for the freeware version at www.wintopo.com .
I was only running into that on 2D programs,not3D.I was editing the tool stage call out for awhile then edited the post processor to not prestage tools, now no more editing. This is on a 5000M control.
Have you had any training with it?? You need to know the thread and cut points, using sync and branch points on your upper and lower contours. If you have never used it before, read the wire manual from Mastercam on the above mentioned features and do some of the tutorials to get the feel of it.
What I do with tapping is to knock down rpm to level I am comfortable with. Once tapping cycle is selected, when you change rpm, the feedrate adjusts with it. I try to maintain whole figures on rpm and feedrate for rigid tapping.
Tommy, I already know all that, it is the IT and accounting mgrs playing the games, not me. I highly value our reseller , but as the only MC programmer against 2 Surfcam seats the company has a higher sense of loyalty to Surfware and MC is the new kid on the block.
My employer just let maintenance lapse on 11/30. My IT mgr was not happy with the 10% penalty with our reseller. The mgr who brought in MC is no longer with us so maintenance is not likely to be renewed soon. They are 8 months behind on Surfcam maintenance renewal. When and if they purchase MC maintenance again, they are putting it out to bid to 3 resellers. I hope to see X sometime, we were sold on maintenance with that promise also
It pays dividends to know both wireframe and solid. As Iskander stated, not everything can be constructed by solid modeling. Custom 3D contours are a prime example where you are not creating precise curves and solids requires definative numbers to work. You can learn wireframe in the surfacing section in Mastercam books. Learning the basics well first is essential.
I asked our reseller when he called about renewing maintenance about Mastercam X and he said it goes to the printers next month and expect it in January.
I use MC 9 Wire and have no complaints other than my own unfamiliararity with it. Only use it for 2D at work but was impressed with the 4 ax caps in MC training with it. Our Fanucs are early 90's, vintage FAN 16 newest and code is close for what we do from Fan Wire post.
