  3. mathew, i hate the fact that things auto highlight also. i had to get used to it in wild fire and now in mc.seems it is the wave of the futre.?! believe me i feel your pain i had pre selection off up until a couple of days ago.now it does make a diffrence for me in some of the functions. i am finding i just need to forget i ever ran earlier versions and just get along with my computer. trevor
  4. matt, before you hit edit. select the all button then select entities and then highlight wireframe.then do edit simplify green check. hth, trevor
  5. thanks all, the problem now lies in several observations i have found. 1)if you pick the all tab to turn on plane maskyou then have to hit the green check to ok the selection(hitting the x in uper corner will not accept)by doing this you are now selecting all entities on screen. 2)i realize the plane mask is in the config file but to have to edit my config every time i want plane mask on or off is ludirice sp.? 3)where is the simple options window for chaining .when im in a function sometimes i want plane mask sometimes i want color mask.the freedom of toggling between all the options in v9 was perfect.i can not seem to accomplish this now,am i missing something? thank you all for your suggestions they do seem to work.i was just hoping there was a options menu that i was over looking. peter , thanks for your comment about using the only box instead of the all box this does eliminate selecting my entire screen. again thank you all who responded. trevor
  6. thad, in v9 i would do: xform squash chain (i had by default plane mask set )pik an entity and wah lah it would pik a chain ignoring any intersections.it seems i am missing something here, or i am x illiterate i could put a file on the ftp but i dont believe it is the file as it never seems to work for me.i end up picking them all one at a time. rant:i dont mind learning something new as i have used many cad and cam software but i just cant figure out the basics here thad, help me out brother trevor
  7. good day, when i try to project a chain to a given z depth, this is what i am doing: xform->project then selecting chain from the drop down menu(next to the all annd only menu)then pick an entity that i want my chain to follow. it will not chain.in v9 you had a toggle for color mask, plane mask etc.right from the same function.i think this is where my problem lies, but not sure how to toggle this option from the project function. if any of this makes sence to any one could you put me on the right track. thank you, trevor
  8. john, paul thanks ,i have got this figured out now i hope. paul what had me confused is my ops were mot dirty after making the changes.i fixed it in this case just by editing the parameters. live and learn, thanks , trevor
  9. gerard, i put a file on jays ftp in the mc9 folder called trev6548-1.mc9.i used several flowline paths as that is what it sounded like you were tring. the edges do not all line up so you can not flowline them all at once.i changed the color of 2 surfaces to yellow ,i did not machine them they were only .003 wide not sure what your tolerances are but after cutting the adjoining surfs the scallop should be minimal.this was just something i threw together real quik. but have a look and see if it helps. trevor
  10. john, thanks for all your replies.this is not something that worked previously.i have had X for about a month now,but was busier than a squirrel in october.so i am just now really digging into it.it seems as the changes i made are working on new files i open.so the control def is correct on the hard drive.it just will not update themachine def on the files i have allready opened and saved. so i believe problem is solved. thanks for taking time to talk, trevor
  11. john, no help, did not make a diffrence. im stumped on this. trevor
  12. john, in my tool parameters it is going to 0 in the length and diameter boxes regardless what tool i call up. in ver 9 tool 2 would spit out a 2 in all the boxes ,tool 3 spits out a 3 in all the boxes. and so on. what am i missing? trevor
  13. hello forum, i have my control definition set to add to tool 0 for length and 0 for diameter . in ver 9 config file it is set the same way,and works great .now in X it keeps puuting my values at 0 instead of matching the tool number. any insight on what im doing wrong? thanks, trevor
  14. beej, that fixed my problem. thanks to both of you. trevor
  15. thad, the chain selection box is grayed out. what am i missing? beej, no it is not a grouped feature. thanks, trevor
  16. good morning everyone, in X i can not get it to change colors using chain. i have a series of splines forming somthing close to a circle. if i go to attributes i can change them one at a time ,and the same thing with analize. is there a way to change colors by picking a chain? thanks trevor
  17. jim, it was the space inbetween th e and the $ that i was missing my mi1 is set at 2 ,but in my tool path parameters it is set to automaticly use post values. if i uncheck that box and force a 2 into misc integer 1 it posts fine .i can not get the config file to keep it set that way. what am i missing. thanks for your help trevor

  19. ron, have you tried this in x yet? im trying to figure somthing out myself right now and was curious. also i use some set up sheets i created for the edm guys that shows x,y,z locations for the trodes at the bottom of the page.then i run it thru the printer to put a isometric pic at the top of page.it seems now when i print i can not get the picture at the top. any ideas trevor
  20. update, just heard from my reseller(innovative solutions) qc tells them the only way to do it is to switch the toggle to batch in your parameters then run the batch file at a later time.the say they might put it back in.hope fully the batching wont be as frustrating as in earlier versions. trevor
  21. bump..... come on i cant be the only one that does not want my toolpath to regen as soon as im done setting all the parameters i generally do a hand full of ops then regenerate at my leisure.some ops take a long time (over an hour)i do not want them to fire off immediatly.it was suggested to batch them...but......can we not just turn a switch off like in v9.? anyone thanks ,trevor
  22. hello all, in version 9 under job set up you could toggle the switch to generate tool path imediatly on or off. i can not seem to find this in ver x.any ideas? i talked to my reseller and he is working on it .just thought id throw it out here. thanks, trevor
  23. i am smiling now also . just pulled mine out of the box. trevor
  24. lee, as bernie said lots of boat designers do use rhino. i believe that is what jaques uses at bateau. he generally is pretty busie, but it seems if someone is willing to buy the plans(or cad data)he would try to get things done for you. trevor
  25. lee, are you looking for wood or steel? check out what sam devlin has to offer,he is in washington.also jaques mertin has a forum at http://www.bateau.com/index.php hereis the link to sams site:http://www.devlinboat.com/ both use stitch and glue method.sams designs are first class in my opinion. hth, trevor
