  1. Ok so its something on my end then. As you can see in the video, it goes around twice. I'll have to see what is causing that. I realize there are other ways to do it but I'd like to be able to for once use the option as its intended instead of always finding a work around, know what I mean? To Rob, I did try unchecking the lead in/out but it ends up not leading out. The only reason it leads in is because the start in center is selected. EDIT. Just opened your file 5th and noticed you are set different on the transition sweep angle. Mine was at 90, you are at 0. THIS is what was causing my tool to go around twice. At 0 it doesn't do it. So I guess I answered myself. Thanks for your file. That helped me figure it out.
  2. Doesn't for me. See attached pics. That is what I have set. As you can see finishing is off. It goes around as a circle and then finishes in the center which is fine, but then it takes off again and does a spring pass. See video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUN2OICTqik&feature=youtu.be The depth on both cuts is the same. Is this what the "normal" is for this toolpath?
  3. Is there a way to stop the circle mill toolpath from doing a spring pass? It seems to always do one even though I have finish pass's off. I just need to rough out the hole but I need to start in the center. Am I missing an option somewhere?
  4. lol nice Paris. Did not notice that. Thank you much.
  5. I was/am having the same issue the OP was. I have this threadtool I am trying to save and I get that same 0 segment error as the OP. I am sure I have blanked entities as well and you say to just delete them. How do you delete them? I did "save some" and selected just the profile but I get the same error. Here is the file I'm trying. PS, sorry for hijacking this thread. I just assumed the OP got it figured out. 14 PITCH THREADMILL new.mcx-8
  6. Exactly what happened to me this morning. Copied the way I wanted it, renamed it, and now its in the section to load a workspace. This won't disappear will it?
  7. Hey guys, this morning when I came in and loaded up Mastercam, I noticed my toolbar and rightclick menu have reset. The difference is it didn't reset like what an install would look like. It turned every single toolbar on and my right click went menu back to default. Any idea why this would have happened? It was fine Friday before I left and I'm the only one who uses this laptop.
  8. Funny you should say that. The very first model I brought in did just that. Way too many lines. I had actually thought the same thing and said to myself, I'd rather just put it on the edge I need. lol. This was the same when I was doing it on surfaces and I ended up doing just the face I needed to machine. I thought maybe solids would have been different. Its like as if you read my mind
  9. Thanks for the automatic setting in the config. I like that.
  10. This is an old habit already. Do it all the time with Surfaces, and it did not change when I did it with the solid. Automatic habit
  11. Perfect, that was it. Appreciate the help fellas.
  12. That is what I was originally doing as per my original post. This is what I'm trying to see if can be done without creating the surfaces.
  13. Yup, I realize this. Its not 1 edge I'm having trouble with. Its "all edges" or selecting only 1 face of the solid.
  14. I can select one edge at a time no problem but there is a lot of edges I need a curve on. I'm probably doing it wrong, but when I select a curve to be on all edges, I cannot select anything. Nothing highlights, and I can't even do it with a window selection. If I have a face that has 20 holes for example, I want every hole to have a curve, how do I select just that face, without selecting each hole? I do have the solids add on by the way. EDIT - By the way I cannot create a curve on all edges, it just refuses to allow me to select anything.
  15. Ok thanks. I'll get it over to the post team and have them add it. Thanks a lot.
  16. Is this possible? I get solid models a lot and usually end up converting to surface, then creating curves so I can pick geometry. Is there a better way that I'm missing? I have a part that has multiple holes that need drilling and some contour milling. I can't select a chain or an entity.
  17. Funny my post does not have that "tap_feedtype" Search found nothing. When you say calculate the feedrate as normal IPM, that is what I am avoiding doing cause if I change my speed, I need the feed to change with it. Or will that take care of it automatically?
  18. Hey guys, when defining a tap, I input the pitch for my feed, rather than calculating the feed based on the RPM. My post outpouts a G95, which is what I want, but when I enter the pitch for my feed, it outputs .05. I understand why its doing this, but I'd like to know if there is a setting somewhere that I can change to have it output my actual pitch that I enter in. See screenshots. So in the first one, you can see where I circled I would like to enter feed like that, but it outputs what you see in the 2nd picture. If I forget to change that, for whatever reason. it outputs the .05 and thus scraps the part, if its not caught at the machine.
  19. Very nice. Thanks so much for that. What are the reasons or benefits for having this "on" by default?
  20. While this changes your speeds/feeds to the tool settings, it still doesn't change when you select a different tool. Example you have a spotdrill of 2500 rpm and 25 ipm. Bring in your 1/8 drill by copying toolpath. 1/8 drill speed/feed is 6000rpm and 15 ipm. Re-initialize the 1/8 drill and alls good. Except now if you click the spotdrill again, its speed/feed is the same as the 1/8 drill. Around and around we go again. This of course is not a big issue for small amount of tools, but if you have a lot of tools on the job and you are selecting others "for whatever reason", they should automatically be updating on the fly to the tool settings. Its been like that for as long as I can remember. That's my opinion anyway.
  21. I get that same thing Zero. Always have to turn it on regardless. Also another annoying thing is if you copy a toolpath, then change the tool of the new path, it keeps the same speed/feed as the previous tool, even though its set in your tool parameters. Still a few issues that are around but easy work arounds. I'm just tired of "work arounds" all the time is all.
  22. Sigh, I figured it out. It was cause I was on the wrong plane.
  23. Hi guys, I am trying to do some dynamic milling and I am aware how X8 has integrated the toolpaths into one but what I'm trying to do is basically a pocket with an island. I need to cut around the island but stay insode the outer diameter of the pocket. I chain the outside diameter as machining region, then I select the island as the avoidance region and select to stay inside. I get an error "A chain overlaps itself." I then tried to just pick the outside and the island as the machining region leaving stay inside selected, same error. Tried selecting "from outside" instead but still the same error. What am I doing wrong? There are only 2 chains in total, one for the outer wall of the pocket and one for the outer wall of the island.
  24. Ok guys, thank you for the responses.
