  1. Once in awhile I get this error when creating solids and I realize why it comes up but how do I actually regenerate it? I cannot save it like its current state. Even if I undo what I changed, it won't allow me to save. "Some Solids are in need of regeneration. The part file cannot be saved in this state. Please correct the issues with the Solid before attempting to save it"
  2. We have X8 installed. Didn't know that was an option. Makes much more sense. Oh well, as long as I can sync the tools folder. I would like to add the whole folder to the server so that ALL my libraries are there. Example my Aluminum, Mild Steel, Stainless, etc libraries. Am I able to add the whole folder?
  3. I have 2 computers I use, one downstairs at the machine and one upstairs in the cad dept. I have Mastercam on both but I was wanting to know if I'm able to move or share my tools folder on the server so that both computers keep the same tools. Right now, I am copying the tools folder and merging it with the other computer and I've come to notice quickly how annoying it is.
  4. Hi guys, I am trying to take a stock tool and edit it to my tool I have, but I don't see the option anymore to save to a specific library. I have Material libraries that I want to save it to. The new create and edit tool is different. How do I save it to a specific library?

I did not know the dimensions of the slot so was I scaling this picture till the OD was the same. Then I just tweaked the drawing.

Thanks. I got a bigger one and I see how it changes.
  7. Hey guys, I'm trying to use this c-hook to copy an image of a boring ring. When the parameters come up, the arcs look nice and smooth, then when I set mostly arcs on fine, the part gets drawn very choppy. I'm not really sure how powerful this c-hook is supposed to be but the picture is pretty straight forward with no real hard stuff to convert. So what I'm asking is what are the best settings to get an image of this ring? I attached the picture.
  8. Wow, awesome response. Thank you very much. I understand it much more now.
  9. Ok maybe someone can give me a couple pointers then? lol I'm wanting to use the nesting for our Waterjet. I can load the parts on the sheet no problem, arrange them how I like, and set the part to part distance. But what I am trying to do is use the common edge option. When I set common edge, the parts go together as expected where a common line is achievable. I want to save this as a dxf and load it into the waterjet software. On the WJ I can set whether the water stream is left, right, or center and the diameter of the spray. What I'm getting at is how can I set those options in Geometry Nesting? Or can I even do it? Clearly I cannot cut a common edge without a part being undersized unless the nesting option can compensate for the water diameter? I may be off base here but the tutorial I downloaded doesn't really go into much detail on what I'm trying to do. Also what is a guillotine cut?
  10. Hey guys, I downloaded a sample tutorial for geometry nesting and in the tutorial it says this. "Geometry Nesting fits parts onto a sheet of material for best yield. Nesting operates on geometry or toolpaths. For geometry nesting (Xform, Xform Geometry Nesting), Mastercam can nest geometry consisting of a closed boundary. Open chains can be selected and will be nested along with the boundary in which they are contained, as can drafting notes. Resources - Download the file from www.emastercam.com/files/ File  Open.  Select FRAME NESTED.MCX-7." I am trying to find the frame nested.mcx-7 but I don't see it there. Does anyone know where I can get it?
  11. hmm. Ok thanks. I suppose I can get used to it.
  12. Did X8 get rid of the confirm close when exiting Mastercam? As dumb as this may sound, I prefer it to be active. As of right now, it just closes without confirmation. Am I able to turn it on somewhere or is it gone completely?
  13. Drag the dialog pop up to the monitor you want the app to open on. That's what I had to do.
  14. No, that didn't work. I've been playing around and it seems it will open wherever the launch icon is as djstedman said. If I open a file off the server, it opens on monitor 1. Here's the kicker, if I click the shortcut folder to the server, and I drag the open dialog box to monitor 2, it will open on monitor 2. I have set it like this for now. IT does not know why its doing that. He said he will look into it. But it seems to open on whatever monitor the open or launch icon is.
  15. This seems to be isolated to Mastercam only. Any other programs I have will remember to open on the 2nd monitor. Mastercam on the other hand refuses to open on the 2nd monitor. I can't seem to find anywhere in the Catalyst Control center to force it to open there. Any other suggestions? Is this a gpu driver issue?
  16. Yes Reid. Drop 8-10% and you could really crank the xxxx out of the feed.
  17. Nevermind. That only works for opening from the exe. If I open another existing file from the server, it opens on the first. I will check out the control panel to see if I can get it working. By the way what card is better? This Radeon 6800 or the Firepro V7800? I believe one is a gaming card and the other is a workstation.
  18. lol that worked. Very weird indeed. Thank you though
  19. No. Its AMD Radeon 6800 Series. I don't know anything about AMD. This is the first computer I've ever had with AMD/ATI. Is this card even a workstation card? I have an ATI Firepro V7800 card sitting here that I could use if its better. Not sure though.
  20. Hey guys, I am having trouble getting Mastercam to open on my 2nd monitor. No matter how many times i move it to the 2nd monitor, resize it, maximize it, etc, it always resorts to opening on the primary monitor. I know on my last computer this was not an issue. Does anyone know what may be causing this?
  21. Without reading through all the posts, is there an updated location for the file with X7? I don't have the path on my computer that page 1 specifies. EDIT - Nevermind, I found it.
  22. Indeed its a great product. I use it all the time for all my High Speed Machining references.
  23. Guess so. It was a Dell T1700 or something like that. Its ok I insisted on a minimum Quadro 2000 card and they agreed to get it for me. Now I wait for it.
  24. lol IT went to put the ATI card in and it was too long. He lent me a Quadro 200 and it worked better but I'm going to try to get a Quadro 2000 at least.
